Description
Join our team at Kenny Habetz Injury Law, a fast-growing personal injury law firm in Lafayette, LA, dedicated to providing exceptional legal representation to our clients. We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Bookkeeper. We are seeking an individual with a great positive attitude who is proactive, analytical, meticulous, has exceptional communication skills, and has a strong work ethic. The position also requires excellent time-management and organization skills, as well as the ability to work productively under tight deadlines and with quickly changing priorities. This position is crucial in facilitating the settlement process for our clients while managing the financial aspects of our cases.
Responsibilities
• Coordinate all financial processing related to case management within the settlement phase, including verifying balances, coordinating reductions with medical providers, ensuring accurate and timely payments, and preparing settlement disbursements.
• Handle office correspondence, including answering emails and phone calls, attending team meetings, and providing assistance to the legal team.
• Maintain organized records of case-related financial transactions and documents.
• Generate and maintain various reports related to settlements and disbursements.
• Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, case managers, and attorneys to address questions and resolve issues regarding cases, settlements, and payments.
• Prepare and present status reports on settlements and other financial matters.
• Perform daily bookkeeping tasks such as entering daily batch information, processing expense payments, processing disbursement checks, and reconciling accounts.
• Utilize accounting software, banking portals, and case management software to streamline processes and ensure accuracy.
• Assist in closing files and other administrative duties as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• Strongly Preferred: a minimum of an Associate's Degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience in an administrative or customer service role; preferably working in a personal injury law firm, insurance billing, accounts payable or receivable, accounting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office programs.
• Proficiency with Quickbooks accounting software is required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in financial transactions.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
