ABOUT
The company hiring for this position is a pioneer in providing mapping and data processing solutions to surveyors, engineers, construction companies, and homebuilders. Our services include LiDAR mapping, photogrammetry, site progress monitoring, and thermal imaging for both private companies, and government and state agencies across the United States.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Drone Pilot Operator is responsible for overseeing and managing the implementation of GPS technology, drone operations and data collection for field projects to satisfy customer requirements.
This position plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate mapping, drone operations and data collection to support the successful execution of mapping and industrial services projects. The Drone Pilot Operator must possess a Part 107 License, a strong knowledge of GPS technology, drone operations, and adhere to safety standards and protocols.
Additional desired skills for the position would be experience with LiDAR data processing, photogrammetry, and GIS/mapping software experience.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise and coordinate GPS and mapping activities on field sites.
Manage the operation of drones for aerial surveys, inspections, and data collection.
Ensure the accurate setup and calibration of GPS equipment and drones.
Conduct quality control checks on GPS data and drone-collected data.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and surveyors to analyze and interpret data.
Maintain and troubleshoot GPS equipment and drones.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines for GPS and drone operations.
Contribute to the development and improvement of GPS and drone operating procedures.
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases.
Strong knowledge of GPS surveying techniques and principles.
Familiarity with aerial surveying, photogrammetry, and LiDAR technology.
Valid driver's license.
FAA Part 107 drone pilot's license or equivalent certification.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in GPS surveying and drone operations is generally required to be successful in this role.
Proficiency in GPS software and data processing tools.
Experience with Emlid or similar GPS equipment.
Knowledge of GIS software and applications is a plus.
Ability to interpret and analyze survey data and maps.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Customer service-oriented mindset.
TRAVEL
Travel required.
