Job Description: Quality Assurance Engineer
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering, excellent problem-solving skills, and a keen eye for quality. This role involves overseeing various quality assurance activities, including system data entry, material test reports, record keeping, and supporting audits and surveillances.
Key Responsibilities:
· Review and approve incoming heats from mills and mill receivers for accounts receivable.
· Enter critical data such as mill/ chemistry, test results, hardness values, and non-conformance reports into the system.
· Create and manage material test reports (MTRs), including generating test requests, printing MTRs for shipments, and preparing sample MTRs.
· Non-conformances and corrective action management, cross-department liaison, and process improvement
· Develop, modify, and maintain comprehensive internal records systems, which can include mill heat logs, raw material reports, reissue print logs, calibration records, ISO records, and various filing tasks (MTR, print, heat treat chart, NCR, stock print).
· Manage QA/QC maintenance process and procedures, including upkeep of consumables and handling purchasing requests.
· Compile reports and documentation, such as rework reports and quarterly/yearly reports on on-time delivery and non-conformance, while collaborating with other departments to ensure quality standards are met throughout the organization.
· Assist in the management of NCRs, MTRs, and Customer Complaints, ensuring timely and effective resolution while continuing to analyze and develop processes to prevent the issue in the future.
· Works with a third party on ISO surveillance and audits to ensure quality standards are being met.
· Engage with vendors as needed to support an approved vendor list as well as manage vendor yearly exclusion requests.
· Review and analyze quality metrics and corrective action proposals that would allow us to take action on undesirable trends.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related field preferred).
· Proven experience in quality assurance or related roles is preferred.
· Strong understanding of QA methodologies and tools.
· Excellent organizational and communication skills.
· Proficient in data entry and management.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Desired Skills:
· Experience with ISO quality standards and audit processes.
· Advanced proficiency in data analysis and report writing.
· Customer-oriented approach with an aptitude for problem-solving.
