Job Summary: The Manager of Recovery Services provides leadership to the Recovery Services Department for functions related to the recovery process of solid organs for transplant and/or research. Oversees training and development of Surgical Recovery Coordinators to ensure knowledge and competence in the tasks associated with organ recovery process, preservation, and research. Oversees supplies and equipment for organ recovery ensuring adequate supplies at all times. Supports the mission of HonorBridge and reflects positively on the company.

Adheres to HonorBridge policies and standards relating to organ recovery, preservation, and research.

  • With the Vice President of Organ Operations, reviews policies and procedures related to organ recovery and research, ensuring compliance with standards
  • Oversees organ recovery and research activities, and performs any necessary follow up of these activities

Assists the Vice President of Organ Operations and Clinical Educator in assuring Surgical Recovery Coordinators are competent through ongoing training and continuing education to perform job specific duties.

Oversees Surgical Recovery Coordinators in their performance of intra-operative organ recovery

  • Adheres to hospital protocol and works collaboratively with hospital staff
  • Follows HonorBridge policy and procedures
  • Delivers appropriate and adequate medical supplies to the operating room environment
  • Preserves, packages and labels organs appropriately
  • Develops relationships with local transplant surgeons and administrators and hospital staff

Evaluates inventory for HonorBridge organ recovery and pulsatile perfusion medical supplies.

  • Ensures adequate par levels are maintained and evaluated regularly
  • Collaborates with Materials Control/Facilities Manager

Actively assists with the HonorBridge quality assurance process.

  • Routinely monitors and audits departmental performance
  • Measures and reports quality metrics for the Recovery Services Department

Ensures HonorBridge lab and pump spaces are clean, safe and organized.

Prepares and submits reports to Vice President of Organ Operations as requested.

Provides up to four shifts of administrative call and/or clinical call per month

Responsible for assuring adequate staff to provide 24 hour per day call coverage for all Recovery Services Department functions.

Assists Vice President of Organ Operations in developing policies and assuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and all standards of practice relating to organ recovery and research.

Responsible for the in-house Organ Recovery process and workflow from the Donor Care Unit to the recovery suite.

Conducts routine onsites with staff.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and/or carrying < 20 lbs: Greater than 65% of the time
  • Lifting and/or carrying < 50 lbs: 35%-65% of the time
  • Lifting and/or carrying < 100 lbs: Less than 35% of the time

Work Environment: normal office environment, normal hospital environment, operating room environment, extensive automobile travel within service area and significant travel in light aircraft

What you will bring:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with a concentration in healthcare.
  • 3-5 years of organ preservation experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience desired.
  • RN or CST preferred. ABTC certification (CTP or CPTC) required within 2 years of eligibility.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with a high level of integrity.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data in high-pressure situations
  • Knowledge of operating room environment
  • Experience in form completion and documentation
  • Commitment to organ and tissue donation.
