Position: Title: Staff Accountant

Reports to: Senior Accounting Manager & Chief Financial Officer 

Compensation Status: Part-Time

North&Co. has approximately 300 licensed agents, who primarily work inside the boundaries of Maricopa County. POSITION SUMMARY: 

As a Staff Accountant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and efficiency of the accounting operations.  Your primary responsibility will be to oversee financial transactions and record-keeping related to accounting activities.  This includes but is not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, financial reconciliation, some property management bookkeeping, and monthly reporting. Your attention to detail, proficiency in accounting software, and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles will be essential to your success in this role. 

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Company Tasks: 

  • Record and track daily check deposits in accounting software.
  • Charge approximately 300 agents their monthly fees and reconcile those payments with the bank.
  • Manage vendor invoices and payments and ensure timely payment of those invoices.
  • File monthly TPT taxes for property management portfolio owners.
  • Input all financial transactions into accounting software.
  • Reconcile bank statements to ensure the accuracy of financial records.
  • Assist with accounting month and year end cyclical tasks.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies. 
  • Utilize accounting and property management software to maintain records and generate ad-hoc or recurring reports.
  • Ensure data integrity and security of financial information.
  • Collaborate with other teams to address financial inquiries and resolve issues.
  • Foster positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Provide administrative assistance to the property management team as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

Skills & Abilities: 

  • Must possess the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be thorough with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter. 
  • Willing to follow a process (and improve as appropriate). 
  • Must follow weekly/monthly tracking and reporting. 
  • Requires a friendly and can-do attitude with staff and sales agents. 
  • Must have the ability to work with multiple people and projects at one time. 
  • Must have the ability to comprehend and carry out instructions. 
  • Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and understand English. 

Experience & Education: 

  • Minimum of Associates degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. 
  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant. 
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop/Online and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of property management software or property management accounting, a plus. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Requires the ability to bend, stoop, lift, and carry items up to 25 pounds. 
  • Requires the ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time. 
  • Requires the ability to stand for long periods of time.
