Schedule of Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours/week

Possible Percentage of Work from Home: Up to 10% work from home

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse (CORA), is the only agency in San Mateo County providing crisis intervention and supportive services to survivors of domestic violence and their children.

CORA is seeking a Speak Up Community Educator to both support our Speak Up Community Education Program in San Mateo County, and the growth of the organization and to ensure supporters are actively engaged in the mission of CORA.

*Please note that this position is not a direct service provider position. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about community engagement and outreach; with an emphasis on outreach to local business owners.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Speak Up Community Education Program is a new program at CORA that focuses on providing local businesses with education to be effective and timely in helping their employees and customers who are impacted by domestic violence. As such, the Speak Up Community Educator is a self-starter who has a passion and aptitude for domestic violence education, community engagement, and program development. The Speak Up Community Educator will provide businesses a three-module training designed to help them:

understand domestic violence;

identify how they can recognize when employees are experiencing domestic violence and what kind of help would be useful; and

recognize an array of strategies they can use to support their clients in a way that would be most helpful, given the variety of circumstances they may encounter.

The Speak Up Community Educator will support the program by delivering workshops and trainings to businesses within San Mateo County. They will also contribute to the community awareness efforts related to Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Community Education:

Collaborate with the Speak Up team to coordinate the delivery of the Speak Up presentation to San Mateo County businesses, ensuring an efficient and cohesive approach to training and education. Contribute to the training content by providing practical insights and participant feedback. Work with CORA staff as needed to obtain technical support in delivering training.

Community Outreach:

Coordinate with the Speak Up team to efficiently conduct outreach throughout San Mateo County, expanding CORA’s presence among and engagement with San Mateo County businesses.

In tandem with the Speak Up education team, contribute to the development of marketing and awareness materials then distribute to San Mateo County businesses. Coordinate with Speak Up team to staff information tables at community fairs and farmer’s markets within San Mateo County, promoting CORA’s services and engaging San Mateo County businesses. Contribute to CORA’s efforts to increase awareness during Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Month in San Mateo County.

Administrative:

Collect and enter data related to participant evaluations and contract compliance for this program into CORA database. Participate in trainings and other meetings to advance CORA’s education and outreach. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Outreach and Engagement Experience – A minimum of two years of experience in educational outreach, training delivery, or sales, with a demonstrated ability to engage and build relationships with diverse community groups or clientele, and a knack for communicating key messages effectively. Technologically proficient with office applications and interactive software platforms. Proficiency in Spanish, Tagalog, or a Chinese language is preferred. Field Experience – at least two years’ work in a related field preferred. Minimum AA degree with work experience.
