SUMMARY

The position of Manufacturing Technician reports to and takes his daily work assignments from the Production Supervisor. They will also make both small batch production on floor mixers and large batches in the fixed tanks. This position must understand critical orders of additions, premix, side cuts, grind portions, let downs and measurement (i.e., lbs. and gram scales, and metering through touch screen system). This position should also understand the control concepts for run times, mixer speeds, product temperatures, flow rates and the operation of the Touch screen system for dispensing material additions. This position will also be capable of running the QC batches for the adjustment of both small and large batches. This individual is to assemble, process and grind batches assigned on mills. This position has a critical role of interaction with supervision, warehouse and all other production and warehouse employees. Reading and following the batch ticket for accuracy recipe components and quantities of additions while following the written instructions for process compliance. This position is responsible for operating the Touch Screen Scale System for Solvent, Resin, Bases and Tint Stock. This position is responsible for utilization of the touch screen tank farm dosing system and the overhead crane and super sack handling equipment. Documenting materials added, lot numbers and quantity exceptions. This individual also must have knowledge of how to control mixer speeds, run times and addition rates of non-bulk raw materials and product sampling once the batch is processed complete.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Compliance with all site rules, annual refresher training and safe job procedures
  • Production first floor Mill area housekeeping and organization
  • Scale Operation and Raw Material Additions Measurements
  • Mixer Cleaning, Speed Control and Run Times
  • Remove batch related garbage and part fill bags and drums
  • Mill Operation, Media Inspections, Media charge levels and Media quality
  • Cooling Tower Operation
  • Batch making and adjustments made to in-process batches in QC
  • Raw Material Identification and Quantity accuracy when weighing / dispensing
  • Clean work area, put part fills away, take out trash created from batching
  • Tub, Tank, Mill Screen, and Spill-pallet/Tray Cleaning.
  • Clean as you go methodology followed for leaks or drips and spillage!
  • Participation in Physical Inventory Counts
  • Department Paperwork, batch ticket completeness
  • Materials Outage and non-batch usage Reporting and Communication (Yield Issues, and Supplies Outages)
  • Notification of equipment failures to supervisors, leads and maintenance
  • Knowledge of Job includes DOT Training and RCRA Requirements
  • Interact with production operators as needed to achieve daily production schedule
  • Housekeeping, Trash, Hazardous Waste handling and accumulation areas competency
  • Knowledge of all Batch Process Related Work
  • Return part fill bags and drums of Raw Materials

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training. Prior Team Leadership and/or other applicable leadership experience is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and write simple phrases in English and/or Spanish.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Required forklift operation and training is provided at Titan Coatings Corporation at prescribed intervals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is regularly required to; stand for prolonged periods of time, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, use hands to finger, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Individual will be working in a manufacturing facility environment with fumes and airborne particles and is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to various chemicals. There are areas and chemicals in the facility that require the use of personal protective equipment to minimize the potential for injury to employee. These may include but are not limited to safety glasses or goggles, steel toed shoes, gloves, and respirators. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

SPECIFIC TRAINING: Mill Operation, Small and Large Batch Assembly, Batch Adjusting, Forklift Operation, Hazardous Waste Handling, DOT Hazmat General Knowledge.
