JOB TITLE:
Coating Operator (Mailander 460)

LOCATION:
Envases Ohio, Fremont Ohio


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Coating Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Mailander 460 sheet-fed coating line in metal decorating production. This role ensures coated sheets meet all production, quality, and curing specifications while maximizing efficiency and minimizing waste.

Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety and quality standards. The Coating Operator plays a critical role in maintaining coating consistency, preventing defects, and supporting overall production performance.


ย Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalentย 
  • Manufacturing experienceย 
  • Experience operating coating equipment (Mailander preferred)ย 

ย Preferred:

  • Experience in metal decorating, lithography, or industrial printingย 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Machine Operation & Equipment Care
  • Set up, operate, and monitor the Mailander 460 coating lineย 
  • Adjust coater settings to maintain proper coating weight, coverage, and curing performanceย 
  • Monitor coating margins and sheet alignment to prevent contaminationย 
  • Perform wash-ups, coating changes, and changeovers efficientlyย 
  • Assist with preventive maintenance and communicate equipment concernsย 
  • Maintain cleanliness of coating equipment, rollers, pumps, and work areaย 
Quality & Process Control
  • Verify coating quality including gloss, adhesion, cure, and overall appearanceย 
  • Inspect sheets for defects such as streaks, skips, contamination, and alignment issuesย 
  • Troubleshoot coating defects and machine performance concernsย 
  • Perform routine quality checks and accurately record production dataย 
  • Ensure all materials meet customer and production specificationsย 
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Work closely with lithograph, slitter, and quality teams to ensure product standardsย 
  • Support continuous improvement efforts focused on waste reduction and efficiencyย 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentย 
  • Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to changing production needsย

  • Ability to work around moving equipment and industrial materialsย 
  • Required use of PPE including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and steel-toed shoesย 
HOURS & CONDITIONS:
  • Standard shifts are 8 hours, five days per weekย 
  • Flexibility required for overtime, weekends, or schedule changes based on production needsย 
  • Regular, predictable attendance is requiredย
