Job Description

Tennessee Donor Services (TDS) is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic team member to join us to save lives!! Our mission at TDS is to save lives through organ and tissue donation and we want professionals on our team that will embrace this important work!! We are currently searching for an External Affairs Manager who will be responsible for planning all public education initiatives that support the strategy of the company. This role will manage activities to attain measurable results in increasing the number of registered donors in state registries while fostering a donation friendly culture in the communities served. Extensive travel required.

DCI Donor Services operates three organ procurement/tissue recovery organizations: New Mexico Donor Services, Sierra Donor Services, and Tennessee Donor Services. We also maximize the gift of life through the DCI Donor Services Tissue Bank and Tennessee Donor Services Eye Bank.

Key responsibilities this position will perform include:

  1. Oversee educational activities that include the support of the state registry, high schools, volunteers, local government programs, workplace partnerships and community events.
  2. Routinely collects and analyzes data to target public education initiatives and programs within the designated service area (DSA) to increase donor designations. Data will include DSA demographics, referral/donor demographics, family initiated/advanced directives, surveys, interviews, public educator’s monthly activity reports and donor registry data.
  3. Develops and maintains media relationships throughout the DSA to increase local media exposures in all broadcast mediums. Supervises the DCIDS locations social media activity and campaigns with Public Education Coordinators.
  4. May act as spokesperson for various local media opportunities or coordinates appropriate Director/DCIDS corporate response to media situation when indicated.
  5. Oversees ordering of all supplies and development of special project materials for education initiatives (National Donor Sabbath, National Donate Life Month).
  6. Routinely updates resources and materials used to educate the public about donation.
  7. Helps plan and/or execute special events that support the organization, donor families, or the general public.
  8. Supports local Advisory Board efforts through information and reporting on public education activities. Facilitates Advisory Board participation in community activities to support outreach to DSA and expand community support.
  9. Maintains or assists with website development/ updates to the public education section of company website and social networking ( i.e. Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc.) as ordered.
  10. Works with other DCIDS education staff to implement and coordinate projects relevant to all offices.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communication or marketing preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing, customer service, and/or management experience preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge preferred of Microsoft operating systems and Microsoft office applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in written and verbal format
  • Valid driver license. May be required to use privately owned vehicle during the scope of company business.
  • Communicates verbally and in writing.
