Position Overview:
The Rocky Mountain Tribal Leaders Council (RMTLC) is seeking a Project Coordinator II to implement the activities of the TOR III grant. The project aims to develop culturally informed prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies and activities for Urban Indians in the major population centers of Montana. The Project Coordinator II will work with the Urban Indian Health Centers and associated community agencies, education, and media consultants to increase awareness of opioid misuse, both legal and illegal, and support cultural events. The person will also work with community health and behavioral health providers to implement culturally informed and relevant services.
Essential Functions:
- Assist Project Director in carrying out all activities specific to the project
- Assist with the coordination of activities related to project awareness of opioid misuse and to support cultural events implementation for completion of goals and objectives
- Will work closely with the Project Director
- Meet weekly with the Program Director to assess progress and planning
- Plan and conduct project-related trainings, workshops, or information sessions at Urban Center site
- Prepares reports, travel memos, purchase orders, etc. relevant to the project
- Must be able to work independently and with Supervisory relationships:
- This position works under the direct supervision of the TOR III Project Director
- This position requires written communications and reports to all appropriate agencies & staff
Additional Functions:
- Work in a cooperative and professional manner with all RMTLC staff
- Performs other duties and assignments as directed
- Assist in grant writing and/or preparations as needed
- Will assist with clerical work as needed
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in Public Health, Social/Human Service, Psychology, American Indian Studies, or any other related field
- A minimum of 2 years of experience planning and conducting trainings is preferred
- Experience working in tribal communities in this region preferred
- Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word Processing software experience required
- Time management skills and working under deadlines to meet project goals and objectives
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with programs, departments, other organizations, and agencies
- Exhibit ethical and professional behavior in all facets of this position
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Work independently, with minimal supervision, in a team-based atmosphere
- Experience with chronic disease prevention, including commercial tobacco prevention, preferred
- Experience with social marketing and media development a plus
- Non-commercial tobacco user preferred
- American Indian/Alaska Native encouraged to apply
- Veteran’s preference will be considered
Job Classification: Non-exempt, temporary full-time position with a (12) twelve-month probationary period. Employment period based on performance as well as duration of grants funding this position and successful application of continuing and/or new grants.

Working Environmental Factors:
- Performs duties in a controlled, tobacco-free office environment and routine use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, and filing cabinets.
Travel Requirements:
- Must have valid driver’s license and proof of vehicle
- Travel in Montana, Wyoming & possibly out of these states. Outside of the area is infrequently required which may include overnight stay(s)
