THE POSITION: The City of Burlingame is seeking a self-motivated, highly organized individual with a proven track record of successful independent judgment to join our Department of Public Works as the Environmental Regulatory Compliance Manager. This position is an at-will position under the limited supervision and direction of the Deputy Director of Public Works Operations or other supervisory personnel. This position is responsible for reviewing, implementing and coordinating environmental regulatory compliance programs and energy conservation programs.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will oversee and manage the annual Municipal Regional Permit (MRP), will serve as the City liaison as part of the reporting requirements relative to the MRP. Implement and participate in the City’s programs relating to storm water pollution prevention, water and energy conservation, and related areas as well as the monitoring of regulatory. Comply with state regulations relative to the Clean Water Act, and other specific duties regarding local programs and ordinances and ensure compliance with all related programs.
The candidate should be able to represent the City and serve at various committees on issues relative to stormwater management, green infrastructure plan, trash reduction, and overall compliance. As well as the ability to compose, present, and communicate concise oral and written reports to diverse technical and non-technical audiences on environmental matters and provide recommendations to management teams.
REQUIREMENTS TO FILE: The City of Burlingame invites candidates to apply who have a minimum 4 years’ related experience in environmental regulations and practices or 2 years’ experience with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in environmental science, biology, public administration or closely related field.
