Job Description

Thomas Cuisine is seeking a Compliance Accountant to work either remote, hybrid or in our corporate office in Meridian, ID.

Wage range: $62,000 - $72,000 annually

What you will do

As a key member of the Accounting team, you will report directly to the Corporate Controller and assist with delivering on the transformation path that the organization is on. As results are delivered, you will be given the opportunity to grow into larger responsibilities.

To support the organization, you will:

  • Manage the fixed asset and lease accounting process and completion, including deprecation entries.
  • Manage and examine tax policies and prepare various sales, use, and excise tax returns and tax payments.
  • Research various tax issues, including analysis of new tax laws, proposed legislation, and tax rate changes, as well as the development of taxability charts. Educate and communicate taxation changes to the organization.
  • Manage permit registration/renewals for multi-state SOS annual reporting, State, City, and County business licenses, health permits, sales tax registrations, and other state-specific licenses per jurisdictions.
  • Prepare, post, and approve general ledger entries and reconciliations monthly, with reoccurring month-end tasks.
  • Lead and enhance internal control environment including effective policies, procedures, and control activities to include SOX, year-end audit support, SOPs, standardization of reporting and compliance and similar requests.
  • Undertake the internal unit audit/accountability reviews, test for risk, and best practices, and present findings in a training environment to educate and level cross-functional teams.
  • Support Accounts Payable Manager on 1099-Misc and 1099-NEC reporting and filing.
  • Assist with regional complex client invoicing in accordance with contracts.
  • Assist with global treasury and cash management including support with daily bank reconciliations and general cash management.

You’ll be a great fit if you have:

  • Degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a relevant role in accounting.
  • Multi-State Sales & Use Tax accounting: 3 years (Preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of GAAP
  • Ability to travel 10%
  • Previous experience with Netsuite or other accounting ERP systems.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Power BI and SQL knowledge a plus
  • A history of effectively working independently or as a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven history of developing deep and trusting relationships with internal and external teams.
  • Proven history maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
  • Forward-thinking and the ability to continuously improve processes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, organizational skills and focus on details.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines efficiently.
  • Ability to quickly learn and accurately use new and/or existing accounting software.
