A licensed IL attorney with 3-6 years of experience focusing on private company mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, debt finance and general corporate law in a law firm setting.Those with private equity transaction experience will be preferred.
Our client is seeking an Associate based in Chicago office. This position will work with the firms Private Equity and Venture Capital group.
Responsibilities:
- Draft transaction agreements and documents with efficiency and clarity;
- Negotiate deal terms alongside clients and supervising attorneys;
- Manage transaction closings and processes;
- Provide thorough factual and legal research and analysis;
- Competently and professionally communicate with clients and supervising attorneys;
- Work with and oversee more junior team members;
- Creativity and flexibility to handle numerous types and structures of transactions;
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing;
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work professionally and effectively with Clients, Partners, Associateand Support Staff;
- Ability to work effectively with others as part of a team;
- Exceptional organization and project management skills; and
- A desire to grow the practice and engage with the Chicago business community.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the Bar in Illinois or admission by reciprocity in 2024.
- 3-6 years of experience in corporate law with a law firm.
- Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and software.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Able to submit law school transcripts and a writing sample.
