Updog Dog Walking is an established and well-respected local dog-walking company in Denver, CO. We started from scratch in early 2014 and quickly grew to be one of the top companies in the area. We are currently hiring in the LoHi area, but Updog also services Capitol Hill, Cheesman Park, Congress Park, Downtown, Hilltop, Highlands, Highland Park, LoDo, Park Hill, Washington Park, and other nearby communities.

Job Summary:

• This position requires availability to work a consistent schedule each day Monday through Friday. New hires will typically start at 10 to 15 hours per week, but hours can be added based on client demand and employee performance. It is rare to work more than 25 hours per week (normal walking hours fall between 10am-3pm, Monday through Friday).
• We provide all of our dog walkers with a small coverage area within our service area boundary in order to make travel time between walks as short and efficient as possible. We do not transport dogs. All dogs are met at their home and walked within the surrounding area. We do not group dogs from different families together, so walkers do not have to control more than two dogs at a time.
• All new hires are hired as W-2 employees and are covered under our business insurance, bonding, and workers compensation insurance.
• Every dog is screened before joining our pack - we do not accept human aggressive dogs. Along with that, each client is required to schedule a minimum of 3 days per week. New hires will operate a schedule consisting of the same dogs on an ongoing basis.
• This can be a physically demanding job, and it requires the ability to walk at a brisk pace for multiple hours a day as well as the ability to control dogs of all sizes in a variety of weather conditions.

Responsibilities and Duties

• You must be available each day Monday - Friday, for a consistent schedule that falls between 10am to 3pm. The schedule may vary slightly daily but will be consistent on a week-to-week basis.
• Driving to and from client's appointments on a set schedule
• Walking dogs for 15, 30, and 45 minutes at a time
• Paying close attention to and following directions from clients and management
• Regularly communicating with management throughout our hours of operation
• Regular use and interaction with our dog walking software and app

Desired Skills

• A natural affinity and passion for dogs
• Physically able to be on your feet multiple hours a day
• Comfortable with technology, specifically smartphones
• Ability to quickly problem-solve if emergencies arise
• Ability to manage your time well
• A willingness to learn
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Bonus: Volunteer experience at shelters and rescues, previous dog walking/pet sitting experience a plus

Compensation:

• $20 - $24 / hour (estimated hourly wage)
• The position will pay approx. $800 for the month but can grow based on availability, performance, and client demand.
• Starting employees are compensated at the rate of $10 (15 min), $15 (30 min), and $20 (45 min) per completed walk
• Clients may provide gratuity based on performance.
• Quarterly bonuses are provided based on average daily work volume and tenure.
• When calculating an hourly rate, we add 15 minutes of drive time to each completed walk. However, almost all schedules allow for less time between appointments. Thus, the variability in the estimated hourly wage. The more efficient your time between walks, the more the hourly rate will be.
