Job Description

Who We Are

Welcoming America sparks and guides immigrant inclusion efforts across the U.S. and internationally. To do this we connect people across sectors working on inclusion and run programs that equip leaders to change policies and build belonging in their hometowns.

Our Welcoming Network is made up of over 300 nonprofit and local government members in the U.S. and supports similar programs outside the U.S. in countries like Australia, New Zealand, Germany, and the UK. Each year we bring new members into the network and run high-quality programming to build skills and connections. Gateways for Growth and the Rural Welcoming Initiative are examples of this programming.

We are deeply invested in our relationships with members and understanding their needs, interests, capacities, and gaps is of the utmost importance. Much of the Regional Manager’s role will focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with current Welcoming Network members so that they get the most out of the Welcoming Network, and the other programs we offer.

Summary

The Regional Manager serves as the main point of contact for Welcoming Network members in a select set of states in the South and helps execute Welcoming Network programming including designing and planning training and technical assistance offerings. Working closely with the Network Director and Chief Program Officer, the Regional Manager is responsible for developing and executing the strategy to maintain and grow Welcoming Network membership for municipalities and nonprofit organizations in the South. This position works closely with the Network Team and other Welcoming America staff.

Primary Responsibilities

Member Support and Programming - The Regional Manager serves as the main point of contact for members in the South, and annually manages the development and execution of several member-focused training and technical assistance programs. Specific responsibilities may include:

  • Acting as the dedicated service provider to Southern members. Services may take the form of technical assistance via email, individual and group coaching calls, conducting training and workshops, and strategic site visits.

  • Consulting on, developing content for, and delivering training, technical assistance, and webinars for members and select non-members

  • Managing at least two Network-focused technical assistance programs, such as the Rural Welcoming Initiative or Gateways for Growth. This can include improving systems, project management, agenda development, and content development among other things.

  • Managing the creation of at least one piece of content for members, such as training curricula, training series, or toolkits.

  • Gather success stories and promising practices from members in the region.

Expanding the Welcoming Movement in the South - The Regional Manager works closely with the Network Director and Chief Program Officer to set and implement the strategy for growing and maintaining the Network in the South including annual priority setting and longer-term planning. Specific responsibilities include

  • Monitoring, and reporting on, themes and trends among Southern members and prospective members to guide organizational strategy.

  • Developing, and executing annual goals for regional members and membership.

  • Identifying and developing strategic opportunities that are aligned with regional and organizational goals.

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with partners in the South.

  • Providing ongoing outreach and services to potential members in the South.

  • The Regional Manager will need to maintain regular contact with a range of diverse members in the South through means including site visits, check-in calls, and emails, to set this strategy.

  • Serving as an external spokesperson and representative for the organization as needed. This will include site visits, conferences, working groups, and presentations among other activities.

The Regional Manager will also support other programmatic, operational, communications, and development projects, as needed. Welcoming America is a collaborative environment where we all work together to support each other and the organization on special projects and day-to-day activities.
