Ward Clerk / Certified Nursing Assistant Wknd Option (Med/Surg)

Responsibilities:

• Under the direct supervision of a staff nurse, performs the receptionist and secretarial duties on the patient/resident care unit.
• Directs and coordinates the flow of clerical work, supplies, and equipment.
• Responsible for inter- and intra-departmental communications and transcription of physician orders.

• Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with serving meals, feeding patients as necessary and ambulating, turning, and positioning patients; and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals.
• Assists nursing staff to identify physical, psychosocial, age-specific, and cultural considerations of each patient.
• Works with the nursing staff to provide personal care according to organizational standards and policies.
• Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs and weight; testing urine and recording intake and output information.
• Provides patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting patients; answering patients’ call lights and requests; and reporting observations of the patient to nursing supervisor.
• Documents actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records.

Qualifications:

• Active Kentucky Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure
• BLS Certification
