SR DIRECTOR PROJECT MANAGEMENT

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Director, Project Management oversees all project managers to ensure a consistent and thorough methodology of managing projects while monitoring the performance of the projects managers and project finances. This position works closely with the Head of Project Management and Delivery, the Project Managers and the Senior Director, Delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Communicate directly with principals, managers, and production staff to discuss and organize projects from original conceptual design through construction.
• Generate budgets for soft and hard costs for a variety of project types.
• Develop fees, schedules and budgets for multiple projects and monitor projects through administrative direction of project team members to ensure completion on schedule and within budget.
• Assist with business development and marketing efforts, preparation of RFP responses and participation in presentations. Preparation of proposals, negotiating proposals, etc.
• Account Executive role and PM on select projects.
• Work with internal and external project teams including consultants, builders, and vendors to plan, organize and direct activities for large or complex projects.
• Proficiency in engaging architectural design teams to work together to produce quality design solutions and documenting them on construction documents.
• Analyze project profitability for all projects in the office and work with project managers to ensure projects are financially successful.
• Oversee recruitment efforts to staff project teams with architectural personnel as needed and provide top-level management for production teams.
• Track the production of construction documents and close gaps in the design.
• Preparation of proposals, estimating resource allocation to start new projects.
• Mentor Project Managers to realize their potential and provide quality output.
• Remain up to date with current and trending elements of design, construction, and technology including attending professional development courses and events as time permits.
• Innovate and develop new standards, policies, and procedures for improving project management performance as necessary to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
• Perform other related duties as required.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• A minimum of 15 years working at a commercial architectural firm as a Project Manager on a variety of project sizes and complexities LEED certification a plus
• Extensive construction administration experience.

PHYSICAL FACTORS:

• This position requires sedentary work and prolonged periods of working on a computer.
• Construction site visits occur frequently and may require walking on uneven, rough terrain at times.

WORKING REQUIREMENTS (Travel Requirements, Overtime, Shifts, On-Call, etc.):

• This position may require work outside of typical working hours to respond to or address any issues that arise.
• Frequent driving to job sites and client meetings around the tristate area is required.
• Occasional air travel and day or overnight trips is required per client needs.
