JOB SUMMARY

Incumbents for the position of Accounting Technician Bond Customer Service will perform essential functions and multiple accounting duties as apportioned under accounting. While work assignments may be primarily focused in one division area, incumbents may be assigned cross-division duties based on District needs. For that reason, incumbents are expected to possess a skill level that allows them to be assigned any duty at any time and become proficient in the required work within a short period of time. Some general types of duties expected to be performed within this position include the following.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Includes, but not limited to)

  • Respond to customer inquiries related to outstanding special assessment bonds, provide information on the payoff process, payoff status, and accept and code payoff payments. Rotate to satellite office as needed.
  • Prepare Bond packages by reviewing payments, preparing wire transfer documents, releasing lien impositions at three Clerk of Court offices (Lake, Marion, and Sumter Counties), preparing check requests, and entering payments into the Special Assessment software.
  • Prepare documents for Supervisory approval to wire transfer assessment prepayments to Bond Trustee for assigned bond issues.
  • Upload Tax collector files from the county, verify the tax payments received, create tax journal entries, and prepare wire transfer documents to transfer funds to Trustee.
  • Accurately manage records of each special assessment bond and assists in the annual assessment process by verifying bond and maintenance information.
  • Journalize and post investment interest each month.
  • Prepare New Home Sales report for Finance Director and District Manager monthly.
  • Prepare recurring monthly wire transfer documents including inter/intra fund wires and enter them in the banking system.
  • Process monthly check requests, such as rents.
  • Review outstanding check report monthly and assist with keeping stale dated check report to a minimum by sending letters and/or calling residents. Assist Senior Accountants with filing annual Unclaimed Property report.
  • Submit replacement check requests if necessary.
  • Verify archived files for Fixed Asset scans for completeness and readability.
  • Assist Fixed Asset personnel to identify Tangible Personal Property.
  • Post Receipts in Miscellaneous Receivable or Cash Receipts in the BSA software.
  • Provide clerical support as necessary to team members.

Additional

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • May be expected to perform additional duties in an emergency.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s Degree in Accounting and/or a closely related field or high school diploma with two (2) years’ experience working in business/finance/accounting or closely related field.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid Florida Driver’s License required.
  • All candidates and employees must successfully pass background screening.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Knowledge

  • Governmental accounting/auditing experience preferred. Considerable knowledge and /or experience of the principles and practices of accounting, public administration and payroll procedures.

Skills

  • Proficient personal computer skills and basic proficiency level in knowledge of Microsoft packages involving Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.

Abilities

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills and professional appearance.
  • Ability to be well-organized & successfully multi-task in a fast-paced environment to meet multiple demanding deadlines.

EQUIPMENT

Position requires the use of telephones, personal computers and productivity software, document imaging scanners, copier and other office equipment.
