Summary/Key Objectives
- The Senior Accounting Analyst will be tasked with the responsibility of the monthly full-cycle Accounting process. Primary responsibility and focus will be on fund accounting and compliance with Federal and State fiscal guidelines, including 2 CFR 200, OMB universal federal guidance. The Federal Cost Principles for the Community Council programs with a strong knowledge of indirect cost rate, de minimis rate principles, cost allocations, and FTE allocations. The incumbent will also have knowledge of GAAP compliance and hands-on experience of both Accrual and Cash basis accounting.
Primary duties and responsibilities will include:
- Assist CFO in annual agency audits i.e., 990, SEFA, SOFE reports, revenue recognition and in any programmatic audits.
- Review and submit year end journal entries to CFO
- Coordinates with the Accounting Manager on day-to-day work of the accounting department (including, but not limited to, fixed asset activity, payroll, accounts payable transactions, recording of revenue and expenses, etc.)
- Prepare in Month ends reporting.
- Reconcile balance sheet and profit and loss accounts to their respective GL accounts on monthly basis to enable Senior Financial Analyst to seek reimbursements on a timely basis
- Run payroll reports from payroll system and review for accuracy and provide backup for all parts of the payroll process.
- Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable postings and follow ups (including posting of all deposits and communicating with vendors on payables.
- Participate in the development of annual Finance Department goals in alignment with agency and Finance Department strategic goals.
- Participate in Finance Staff meetings and in the development of weekly goals.
- Contribute to the development of Finance service improvements to all agency employees, funders, subcontractors, and subrecipients.
- Develop cooperative cross-departmental relationships.
- Participate in planning for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the Finance team, as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis or opportunities (where possible) of individuals.
- Review FF&E and capitalize expenditures in accordance with capitalization policy
- Review bank accounts daily, ACH/check exceptions, and positive pay as needed.
- Approve POs to ensure proper documentation and entry
- Review cost allocations monthly and update as needed with approval from CFO
- Review the statement of revenues and expenses to ensure the cost allocated entries are posted following the appropriate approved cost allocation plan.
- Assist with the CFO with agency IT needs
Required Education and Experience
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance is required
- Coordinate equipment needs for new hires/current employees
- Purchase equipment as needed w/ approval from CFO
- Work with IT firm to set up new computers, printers, scanners, etc.
- Coordinates with CFO on the preparation of program budgets and the annual budget for the Agency.
- Assist CFO on weekly check runs
- As needed, submit corrective journal entries to ensure accuracy of the financial statements
- Prepare in monthly reporting and cash flow forecasting for presentation the Finance Committee.
- Enable the implementation of business process improvements.
- Make maintenance updates to the Intacct software as needed (reporting, dimension updates, add users, etc.)
- Update programs and service categories in payroll software as needed
- Follow and protect agency policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by CFO
