Description

URM Stores is currently looking for an organized and enthusiastic Assistant Controller who will report to the Controller/Assist Treasurer. Our Assistant Controller is an essential part of the corporate accounting team and is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Accounts Payable and Records Management Departments and provides support to the Controller/Assistant Treasurer in the preparation of financial statements, compliance reporting, planning and coordination of budgets, and collaborating with external auditors.

What Your Day-to-Day would look like as our Assistant Controller:

• Assist Controller with prioritizing and implementing accounting best practices, systems, and tools to drive optimal ROI and minimization of barriers to execution to these best practices, systems, and tools.
• Prepare consolidating elimination journal entries.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and financial forecasts.
• Monitor wholly owned subsidiaries accounting activity.
• Assists with management of accounting department ensuring ongoing fiscal health of the business.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and Company employees on multiple accounting topics.
• Oversee the Accounts Payable's supervisor, team, and processes.
• Oversee the Records Management department.
• Review the calculation of gross margins on a monthly basis and investigate variances.
• Prepare complex month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with year-end audits.
• Coordinate Annual budget process and assist Controller with monthly forecasting.
• Prepare schedules to support the completion of the federal and state corporate tax returns.
• Prepare other compliance reporting as assigned.
• Support company and department projects as assigned.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Must be a self-starter able to successfully set and meet goals.
• Effective interpersonal and relationship building skills are required.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills are required.
• Proficient with MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting systems (NetSuite preferred)
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent from four-year college or university is required.
• Must have a minimum of 5 years accounting experience with an organization that has revenues in excess of $1 million annually.
• CPA or CMA strongly preferred.
• Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial reporting, etc.)
• Corporate tax/audit experience preferred.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Ability to define problems, collect data and draw conclusions.
• Experience with business planning, forecasting, and analysis.
• Treasury management experience preferred.
• Experience maintaining a general ledger.
• Familiarity with a bank treasury management system.
• Experience with budgeting and/or accounting software.
• Background in developing full scope financial statements - P&L, balance sheet(s), and cash flows.
