Position: Control System Engineer / Field Automation Service Engineer

Purpose:

The Control System Engineer / Field Automation Service Engineer role aims to leverage deep expertise in the technical aspects of our Flow Computers and Well Pad Automation solutions and provide comprehensive guidance and support to customers. This involves a keen understanding of the Emerson Flow Computer architecture, functionality, and application in oil and natural gas production, transmission, and distribution. The Field Automation Service Engineer will be pivotal in bridging the gap between technical intricacies and customer needs, ensuring effective communication across various stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include staying abreast of industry trends, conducting in-depth product analyses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance product features and capabilities. The Control System Engineer / Field Automation Service Engineer will serve as a go-to resource for internal teams, offering insights into technical challenges, recommending solutions, and contributing to the development of best practices.

Additionally, the Control System Engineer / Field Automation Service Engineer will actively participate in customer interactions, providing technical support, troubleshooting complex issues, and delivering product demonstrations. The role requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, continuous learning, and a commitment to maintaining a high level of technical proficiency.

Ultimately, the Control System Engineer / Field Automation Service Engineer aims to optimize the utilization and performance of our products, ensuring customer satisfaction and contributing to the overall success and innovation of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead with a Safety mindset and adhere to all company and customer safety practices
  • Provide quality solutions and services to our customers and industries
  • Provide onsite support for Flow Computer customers
  • Directly interface with customers onsite
  • Provide support for an estimate of on-site services
  • Gain knowledge as needed to assist the customer in pertinent operational and maintenance matters, as well as understand customer pains and associated causes
  • Troubleshoot Emerson Flow Computers
  • Configure and start up Emerson Flow Computers
  • Work with Customers OT/IT Groups to establish communications with Emerson Flow Computers
  • Develop and Deploy control strategies as required by the customer
  • Be prepared to travel to customer locations with very short notice to troubleshoot field issues.
  • Continually develop knowledge and skills pertaining to automation identified via client interaction

Skills/Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering is strongly preferred
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Configuration and commissioning of telemetry networks (cellular modems & wireless radios)
  • Familiarity with API/AGA standards for custody transfer applications
  • Experience with digital communication protocols (MODBUS, Ethernet, ROC/ROC+, DNP3)
  • Well organized with attention to detail
  • Effective prioritization and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous process improvement
  • Discreet with confidential information
  • Proven ability to work closely with others and find solutions to problems
  • Thorough understanding of industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
  • Thorough understanding of applicable mathematics and scientific practices.
  • Thorough understanding of related equipment and the ability to perform equipment modifications.

Working Conditions:

Primarily in the field with some office work as necessary. Driving and operating machinery involved. This position may require evening, weekend, and holiday hours, as well as travel (30%). Lifting up to 60 pounds is required on occasion.

Compensation:

Rate range: $28.00 to $58.00 per hour. This is an hourly role that is eligible for overtime pay. Prior work or industry experience, as well as job-related education and unique skills, will be taken into consideration when setting the wage rate.

Other: Eligible for additional incentive compensation, including an annual profit share award.
