CDL Class A Driver - Colorado Industrial Recyling

Responsibilities and Activities:

• Be able to safely and efficiently operate Class A vehicles.
• Understand the overall weight and axle weight of every load you haul to ensure you are under the legal limits set forth by the Colorado Department of Transportation.
• Abide by all State and Federal Motor Vehicle laws, as well as all Department of Transportation regulations.
• Thoroughly complete DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Identify and report irregularities or mechanical issues on the equipment you are operating.
• Transport ferrous steel and vehicles to various locations within the state of Colorado
• Provide the highest level of customer service to a variety of commercial customers.
• Document job activities within a smartphone accessed logistics system.
• Perform a variety of material handling, sorting, and packaging activities within a recycling yard as needed.

Required Competencies:

• Must have held a CDL Class A license for three or more years.
• Experience operating a vehicle with a ten-speed manual transmission.
• Experience operating tractor-trailers
• Foundational understanding of DOT regulations and the principles behind the safe operation of tandem trucks.
• Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with coworkers and customers.
• The ability to prioritize job assignments by recognizing impacts to the organization, assessing safety risks, and making determinations regarding resource requirements.
• A high capacity for on-the-job learning, including the ability to recognize gaps in understanding, the ability to find resources to advance knowledge, and the ability to retain and apply new concepts.
• Possess strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Integrity and personal accountability; providing clear and accurate reporting regarding service activities, acknowledging mistakes and oversights, and taking ownership of any required corrective action.

Preferred Competencies:

• Experience operating end dump trailers.
• Experience operating power-take-off (PTO) systems
• Experience fulfilling a pickup route.
• Experience operating a smartphone.
• Experience working with dry van and flatbed trailers.

• Starting hourly wage equates to between $45,000 and $50,000 (base plus overtime)
