Job Description

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join our team as a Design Engineer, specializing in industrial water and wastewater projects. In this role, you will lead the design and engineering efforts on a wide variety of projects, including treatment facilities, pumping systems, pipelines, and collection systems, for clients in the mining industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, with extensive experience in water and wastewater infrastructure design, including both conventional design-bid-build and design-build projects.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Design and Engineering: Lead the design and engineering efforts on industrial water and wastewater projects, from conceptual design through construction. Develop engineering plans, specifications, and drawings for treatment facilities, pumping systems, pipelines, and collection systems, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and client standards.
  2. Client Interaction: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients in the mining industry, understanding their project needs, objectives, and constraints. Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, and provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.
  3. Design-Build Projects: Participate in design-build project delivery methods, working closely with contractors, architects, and other project team members to develop innovative and cost-effective solutions. Coordinate design efforts, review contractor submittals, and ensure project deliverables meet quality and performance requirements.
  4. Cost Estimates: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for water and wastewater projects, including treatment facilities, pipelines, and pumping systems. Utilize industry-standard estimating techniques and software to quantify material quantities, labor hours, and equipment costs, and develop cost-effective solutions for clients.
  5. Engineering Calculations: Perform engineering calculations and analyses for pavement design, drainage design, hydraulics, and other civil engineering aspects of water and wastewater projects. Ensure engineering designs and solutions meet project requirements and regulatory standards.
  6. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews of engineering plans, specifications, and drawings to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements. Implement quality assurance processes and procedures to maintain high standards of design excellence and technical integrity.
  7. Team Leadership: Provide leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, guiding them in their professional development and technical growth. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages innovation, creativity, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on water and wastewater projects for industrial clients.
  • Strong understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, pumping systems, pipelines, and collection systems.
  • Experience with design-bid-build and design-build project delivery methods.
  • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., EPANET, SWMM).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients, team members, and stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and project management abilities, with a proven track record of successfully leading complex engineering projects from inception to completion.

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
  • Opportunities for professional development and advancement within the company.
  • Dynamic and collaborative work environment with a focus on innovation and excellence.
