This is a role that requires a multi-disciplinary team approach to solving problems and patient challenges. SUMMARY:
Performs routine administrative and clerical tasks to coordinate infusions and procedures. This is a non-exempt, full-time position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Works closely with providers to schedule all appointments, including follow-ups, sick visits, chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy infusions, and procedures.
    • Maintains oversight of provider infusion schedule.
    • Answers, screens, and responds to routine questions via phone, electronic communications, or face-to-face contact, records thorough messages, and routes to appropriate personnel.
    • Coordinates with providers and exercises due diligence to ensure orders, referrals, and/or authorizations are updated and approved.
    • Acts as a liaison between providers, patients/guardians, ancillary departments, and other health care entities to ensure proper care is being delivered.
    • Ensures that providers and other personnel are informed of schedule changes promptly and accurately.
    • Records patient cancellations, no-show appointments, and reschedule appointments.
    • Maintains strict patient confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
    • Routes incoming phone calls.
    • Updates patients on pre and post procedure instructions.
    • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience
  • Completion of a medical office training program
  • College degree

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Personality and demeanor to work with the public and assist distraught families.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Frequently required to sit for 6-7 hours daily at a computer terminal.
  • Frequently required to utilize hand and finger dexterity.
  • Frequently required to reach, bend, and lift 15 lbs.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Bilingual English/Spanish.
