We are hiring an Electrical Superintendent to join our team at Walker Engineering for our San Antonio division.

Job Description:

The Electrical Superintendent is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling large and/or complex construction projects. This leadership role entails overseeing the workforce, managing subcontractors, and ensuring projects are completed on time, safely, and within quality and profitability standards.

Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Enforce Walker Engineering's safety program, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and site-specific requirements.
  • Conduct and document safety/incident investigations, ensuring prompt corrective action.
  • Facilitate OSHA inspections and manage government inspections and licensing matters.
  • Maintain first aid resources and coordinate medical facilities for emergencies and drug testing.
  • Uphold and promote excellent housekeeping practices across all teams.
  • Secure the work area daily.

Leadership & Supervision:

  • Direct foreman and general foremen, optimizing their productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain open, frequent communication with all project personnel to discuss plans, identify potential problems, and provide alternative solutions.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with inspectors, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Drive motivation and high morale among personnel, subcontractors, suppliers, and service providers.

Planning & Scheduling:

  • Participate in construction meetings and provide insights on job progress and issues.
  • Coordinate work sequences and manage interactions with other crafts, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Keep the 3week rolling project forecast updated to manage materials, equipment, and personnel scheduling.
  • Review and address RFI logs and change orders, ensuring alignment with as built plans.
  • Consult with engineering, estimating, and planning departments to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and timelines.

Quality Control:

  • Uphold quality standards in all project tasks, implementing processes to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance, ensuring contractual compliance.
  • Address inspection reports and manage resolutions to deficiencies.

Administration:

  • Manage administrative tasks including timecard review, invoicing, documentation of additional work, and maintenance of accurate as built drawings.
  • Complete daily superintendent reports and ensure the implementation of Task Hazard Analysis (THA) at the start of each shift.

Travel Requirements:

  • Less than 25%, subject to project needs.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Craft apprenticeship completion or equivalent training and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Active Texas Journeyman Electrician license.
  • Proficient understanding of project scopes and trade interactions.
  • Advanced knowledge of OSHA regulations and company safety protocols.
  • OSHA30 certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire.
  • Competent in reading drawings and interpreting specifications.
  • Demonstrated leadership, teambuilding, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven ability to manage diversity and resolve conflicts.
  • Advanced skills in construction scheduling and cost control.
  • Administrative prowess, including the completion of necessary documentation.
  • Technologically savvy with efficient time management and goalsetting abilities.
  • Commitment to accountability, integrity, and detailed work.
  • Job access is contingent upon meeting all site-specific requirements without restriction.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regular communication and site engagement.
  • Construction site navigation in various climates and environments.
  • Spatial understanding for blueprint reading and geometry problem-solving.
  • Material and equipment managing up to 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Climbing ladders, stairways, and maintaining balance.
  • Frequent bending, stretching, and reaching.
  • Clear vision for detailed work and safe operation of vehicles.
