Job Summary:

The Engineering Superintendent will lead a team of engineering personnel in planned and unplanned engineering activities for the Hot Mill, focusing on the deployment of Reliability Excellence tools and promoting a culture of problem solving to root cause.  The incumbent must be a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills to drive continuous improvement within the maintenance organization.

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 6 years' work-related experience in a heavy manufacturing environment including supervisory experience

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a technical or engineering field
  • Proven ability to lead a multidiscipline team of engineering personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Conceptual, analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills are necessary
  • Must be detail oriented, self-directed, and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work cooperatively with the staff at varying levels of the organization
  • Strong practitioner of EH&S policies, procedures & regulations, lean manufacturing
  • Basic mechanical & electrical knowledge
  • Proficient in the use of components in the Microsoft office suite
  • 2+ years of direct management/supervisory experience
  • Experience in Industrial Reliability 
  • Experience working in a union plant environment

In this role, you will:

  • Support EHS Initiatives:
    • Ensure execution of department EHS plan.
    • Demonstrate safe work ethic and promotion of Human Performance (HP) across the department and plant.
    • Ensure all applicable Federal, State and Local building codes, as well as all applicable Arconic specifications and standards are met and followed for all projects and services performed by Plant.
  • Focus on Employee Engagement & Development 
    • Development of direct reports using managerial and leadership skills through mentoring and coaching practices, along with formal performance management processes.
    • Participate in formulation and administration of company policies and the development of long-term goals and objectives.
  • Lead Reliability Excellence & Continuous Improvement Activities: 
    • Support deployment of Tennessee Operating System and Reliability Excellence to deliver the department and plant goals.
    • Lead in a manner that drives the identification, implementation and documentation of Engineering best practices. Connect with other Arconic locations and outside companies to benchmark and share best practices.
    • Delivering a strategic maintenance plan that ensures that maintenance resource availability is maximized, and overall maintenance efficiencies, labor and material costs are improving.
  • Effectively Track and Control Financials/Spend:
    • Maintain annual budget, cost improvement activities, monthly forecast, and ensure department financial goals are met.
    • Partner with Procurement to ensure appropriate contracts and service agreements are in place to support the operations.
