Lead Laboratory Technician - North Slope, AK

POSITION SUMMARY: Lead Laboratory Technician: Supervises all the technicians working in the laboratory. This position works side-by-side with direct reports and client to ensure the successful operation of the Laboratory. Provide analytical support for the field, such as performing both routine and non-routine sampling and analyses, quality verification of field sales products and monitoring of selective facility systems/chemicals. The work schedule will be a rotational hitch of 21 days on followed by 21 days off, or 14 days on and 14 days off. Daily work shifts will be 12 hours.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES:

• Communicates client expectations and organize daily workflow to meet client expectations.
• Performs routine Laboratory procedures and cover any/all positions as needed
• Read and understand industry standards and work with Laboratory Technicians to develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), for Lab Chemist review and approval
• Perform basic instrument maintenance and troubleshoot instrument issues as required
• Perform administrative duties in the Laboratory database
• Review method performance, ensure quality assurance and quality control standards are followed, and review data quality of Laboratory Technicians
• Sample and analyze routine and non-routine samples as requested by Company
• Calibrate, service, and repair various laboratory equipment
• Complete clerical functions associated with the laboratory including data entry
• Clean and organize the laboratory, equipment, glassware and sampling equipment
• Process, weigh and gauge corrosion coupons
• Collect samples from processing equipment or the environment
• Transport samples from other locations in the field to the laboratory

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• 4-year college degree in a science field or 5 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Relevant college coursework and lab work or 5 years of relevant laboratory experience
• Chemistry degrees with completion of Instrumental Analysis coursework are preferred.
• Valid driver’s license

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

• Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
