The Avery Dennison RBIS Group North America is looking for a Quality Manager to join the team at our manufacturing site in Miamisburg, OH.  The Quality Manager is a member of the Plant Leadership Team reporting directly to the Plant Manager.  She/he is responsible for planning and directing the activities of the Quality Team and key initiatives for the facility.  This role often calls for the derivation and application of new or unique approaches. In this role you will need to collaborate with various areas of the organization, evaluate new products, review and analyze technical literature and stay current on related issues and technical data.

Job Description

  • Lead, coach and develop quality team members to achieve peak performance.
  • Develop and implement plant projects to improve process control & quality and reduce defects. Work includes data collection and analysis, development of processes, training, best practice translation, monitoring/audits, and the development of new test methods.
  • Lead cross-functional project teams & collaborate with all functions, levels of the organization, customers and suppliers.
  • Develop, maintain, and ensure compliance with quality assurance programs, policies, processes, and procedures under ISO 9001:2015, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), and other applicable governing bodies.
  • Develop and implement regulatory plans and strategies, in partnership with the Miamisburg location and the Product Compliance team, based on the requirements of current and future items in production.
  • Interact regularly with engineering, manufacturing and commercial functions to establish quality standards for raw material, work in process and finished products and ensure sufficient process capability to consistently meet those standards.
  • Develop control methods for sustaining process improvement.
  • Lead the quality team to improve customer complaint satisfaction through more effective and efficient solutions to claims. Lead “complex claim” resolution and develop the quality team’s skill-set.
  • Collaborate with all levels and functions of the organization from Logistics, to Procurement, to Operations, to Sales to resolve customer related issues.
  • Provide ongoing process evaluation, including trials and capability studies and approve site specification changes.
  • Lead quality support and representation in new product development, spec reviews and approvals, launch/scale-up, design transfer, and facility /training validation activities. 
  • Work directly with external and internal customers to address and resolve questions, concerns, requirements, complaints, and rejects using various internal and customer CAPA/SCAR systems.
  • Deliver short-term and-long term results in order to develop and maintain the organization's credibility with the business and create opportunities for the function to add greater value to the business.
  • Use business trends and customer needs to develop and manage a plant quality strategy and create a team operating plan with actionable goals to create competitive advantage.
  • Create and maintain a Electronic Quality Management System (eQMS)
  • Lead and facilitate problem solving activities, including customer, supplier, and Avery personnel as participants.
Qualifications

  • B.S. in relevant engineering, material sciences, or other related STEM-degree required.
  • 3-6 years of leadership experience in a quality or operations function.
  • Demonstrated experience managing policies, procedures, process, programs, and practices under ISO 9001 (or a similar quality system) to ensure continuous improvement, conformance and effectiveness of Quality System. Statistical analysis and problem solving skills (Six Sigma).
  • Demonstrated experience with effective Corrective and Preventive Action processes to ensure process improvement and auditing results.
  • Able to quickly acclimate to complex organization: build and develop functional relationships, gain knowledge of products, develop analytical and reporting skills, learn multiple computer-based quality, inventory, and internet/ intranet applications.   
  • Strong communication skills to facilitate partnerships between the Miamisburg site and other Avery Dennison facilities, end-user customers, suppliers, audit organizations, etc.
