Production Supervisor:
Job Summary: The Production Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the production floor. They ensure that production targets are met, quality standards are maintained, and safety protocols are followed. The Production Supervisor also plays a key role in managing and leading production staff.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Supervision and Leadership:
• Lead and manage a team of production workers.
• Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure employees perform their tasks effectively.
• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
2. Production Planning:
• Collaborate with production planning teams to schedule and prioritize production orders.
• Ensure that production schedules are met and adjust as necessary to accommodate changes.
• Manage labor needs based on order volume.
• Meet the organization’s production goals measured by the metrics.
3. Quality Control:
• Monitor and enforce quality control standards throughout the production process.
• Implement measures to address and prevent product defects.
4. Safety Compliance:
• Ensure all safety regulations and guidelines are followed.
• Conduct/participate in regular safety meetings and training for production staff.
5. Process Improvement:
• Identify areas for process improvement and implement efficiency enhancements.
• Work with engineering and maintenance teams to address equipment issues.
6. Inventory Management:
• Monitor and manage raw material and finished goods inventory.
• Coordinate with the supply chain to ensure adequate stock levels.
7. Communication:
• Communicate production goals, targets, and updates to the production team.
• Communicates effectively with the Manager when issues arise related to processes, people or equipment.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
8. Documentation:
• Maintain accurate production records, including output, downtime, and quality metrics.
• Prepare and submit regular reports to management.
9. Employee Development:
• Identify training needs and opportunities for skill development within the production team.
• Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to employees.
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a production supervisor or related role
• Previous experience in a food production or manufacturing environment. SQF background a plus.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and quality control processes.
• Familiarity with production planning and inventory management systems.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
