Facilities Supervisor

REPORTS TO: Director of Finance
SUPERVISES: Maintenance Mechanic
The Facilities Supervisor is responsible, in conjunction with other facilities personnel, for maintaining the physical structure and maintaining equipment used inside and outside the building.
The Facilities Supervisor commits to the mission of Catholic education in the Mercy tradition.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Perform light mechanical, electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs; Floor tile, painting, metal working, roofing and masonry. (Candidate must supply own common hand tools; specialty tools not required.)
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on equipment and machinery
- Move furniture, supplies and equipment using dollies, hand trucks, forklifts and personal lifts.
- Manage and communicate with contracted facility services such as cleaning, grounds, repairs
- Maintain stock supply inventory
- Available to be on call (50% of the time)
- Oversee building safety and work with safety committee to change and improve procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned- including deliveries, security
- Manage and supervise work schedule with building mechanic
- Manage facility budget/ Facility projects with the Director of Finance
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse faculty and staff
- Organized with a strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
- Competent computer skills including experience with building control systems and Microsoft Office

SPECIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED;
- Current driver’s license; ability to drive pickup truck and large passenger van;
- 10 years’ experience in a related field; ability to troubleshoot, solve and repair;
- Working knowledge of all building trades including but not limited to plumbing, painting, electrical, carpentry and masonry; HVAC a plus but not required.
- Knowledge of computerized building control systems (BCS); experience with Johnson Controls Metasys a plus but not required;
- Ability to use A frame ladders, extension ladders and Genie Hi Lift to 30 feet; scissor lift, and forklift
- Ability to lift, carry, 50 pounds; move heavier weights with dollies and hand trucks;
- Ability to use computer including email, search engines and Microsoft Word;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision;
- Candidate must pass all background checks and child abuse clearances prior to employment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
May include:
- Operating light equipment or tools
- Work on ladders, frequent walking, bending and stooping, squatting, reaching above and at shoulder length;
- Kneeling, balancing above standing, sitting, lifting of objects weighing up to 50lbs or more.
- Occasional pushing/pulling, twisting at waist.
- Good balance is required.
- Subject to extremes of temperature while working inside and outside the school.
- Noise level may require the use of hearing protection equipment.
- Ideal candidate will live approximately 20 to 30 minutes from Gwynedd Mercy Academy High School.
- Candidate is expected to work some evenings, weekends and at special events.
