Position Summary:


GEOST seeks an enthusiastic and highly capable Electrical Engineer with recent experience in the design, fabrication, and test of electronics to support imaging systems, sensors, lasers, optical communication, and embedded processors.  We build hardware for ground systems (fixed), vehicles (mobile), and spacecraft.  Familiarity with modern design tools is a must.


GEOST is a small business founded in 2004 and located on the northwest side of Tucson, AZ.  GEOST specializes in active and passive optical remote-sensing and provides expertise in all phases of project development for electro-optics and sensors. 


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Produce electrical concepts and designs for a wide variety of hardware and projects.
  • Work with fabrication shops and vendors to complete fabrication of designs.
  • See designs through to successful integration and test.
  • Show excellent investigative and trouble-shooting skills to assess issues and develop resolutions in the lab and in the field.
  • Work proactively to complete tasks with some modest direction.
  • Communicate effectively with project management, customers, and team members across disciplines.
  • Attend technical interchange meetings with the team members and other project personnel and represent the organization in matters pertaining to project development.
  • Provide status on assigned tasks and program schedules.
  • Provide document review and resolve technical engineering and integration issues.
  • Must have the ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience within electrical engineering.
  • An active US Government Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Clearance.  Current SSBI is preferred; please note if applicable.


Required Skills:


  • Experience with modern schematic, design, layout, and simulation/analysis tools.
  • Proficiency with Altium Design Tool.
  • Experience is System Level designs.
  • Experience in System Level Grounding plans.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team player incorporating a team-based success philosophy.
  • Experience performing in a dynamic and high-visibility role.
  • Contribute to the completion of program and project milestones.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and sound problem-solving skills.
  • Support travel and off-site work, as needed.


Preferred Skills:


  • Digital and analog design experience to include signal processing and sensor system controls.
  • Experience with EMI control/suppression in accordance with MIL-STD-461.
  • Experience with electrical design associated with electro-optical systems.
  • Controls theory to include practical hands-on control implementation for mechanical assemblies such as sensor mounts.
  • Hands-on expertise with optical systems, telescope systems, laser systems, and/or space systems.
