Summary:
WesTech has an immediate opening for a full-time Electrical Engineer 1 for design and development of instrumentation and controls design and electrical interconnection plans for capital projects.
Candidates for this position may be required to pass pre-employment and periodic screenings, including background checks, drug and alcohol tests, or other necessary assessments.
Some of the work that you will do:
  • Work with a cross functional engineering team and customers to develop basis of design for projects with regards to the I&C and Electrical engineering disciplines.
  • Review P&IDs, I/O List, vendor cutsheets, contractor submittals, and electrical panel schematics to ensure compliance and cohesion for the overall project requirements.
  • Develop electrical basis of design, controls architecture, control narrative, sequence diagrams, and interlock matrices in conjunction with process and mechanical engineering teams to meet the intent of project requirements.
  • Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) for automated equipment skids and PLC control panels prior to shipment and installation to site.
  • Configure or reconfigure controllers, VFDs, and PLCs as required for rental equipment prior to shipment and installation at site.
  • Review PLC/HMI software to ensure compliance and functionality are in line with project requirements and company standard.
  • Provide input to the controls design and sales efforts to ensure correct hardware and logic will support the PLC software.
  • Design, check, or approve construction drawings including but not limited to; one-line diagram, grounding and lighting plans, controls architecture, area classification plans, instrument location and conduit routing plans, and field interconnecting diagrams.
  • Coordinate switchgear, switchboard, panelboard, and MCC selection for electrical distribution with vendors and contractors.
  • Conduct electrical systems analysis and design including but not limited to power distribution system gear and transformer sizing and selection, grounding grids, lightning protection systems, arc flash studies, short circuit calculations, harmonic analysis and cable ampacity and derating calculations.
  • Ability to organize tasks for, mentor, and train junior engineers, designers, and drafters.
  • Ability to act as electrical lead on projects.
  • Responsible for assuring electrical engineering deliverables meet pre-established methodologies, procedures, and techniques.
  • Responsible for quality and timeliness of electrical deliverables as assigned
  • Responsible for technical assistance as required during construction and commissioning, including extended travel to project site location.

  • Experience with the engineering process and knowledge and practical application of universally accepted engineering standards inherent to the electrical discipline.
  • Strong problem solving ability with ability to work across teams and organizations to find solutions.
  • Ability to complete domestic and international travel, up to 15%.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills, time management skills and customer service skills.

  • Graduate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Broad knowledge and expertise in pumps and piping.
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes and projects.
  • Proven track record in leadership as well as the ability to develop, implement and document to standard engineering practices.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to sit at workstation using computer/phone.
  • Regularly required to move around the facility.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
