Sanitation Supervisor - First Shift

POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Sanitation Supervisor. The Sanitation Supervisor implements and enforces systems, policies, and procedures. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES / MAJOR DUTIES

Responsibilities and accountabilities include, but not limited to:

• Directs and inspects cleaning of all bakery equipment, production work areas and outside premises and do corrective actions if needed.
• Assists in the development and maintenance of the Sanitation Program (HACCP, Allergen, etc.) for the variety of products produced in compliance with customer requirements and government regulations.
• Manages Master Sanitation Schedule for bakery operations. Implements, revises, and updates as necessary.
• Maintains and controls the sanitation budget.
• Inspects premises for unsanitary practices and conditions.
• Confers with Quality and Production management on sanitation problems, and recommends changes in equipment, plant layout, lighting, ventilation, or work practices to improve sanitation standards and food safety.
• Compiles required reports regarding regular sanitation inspections, deficiencies and steps taken to resolve deficiencies.
• Ensures that all sanitation chemicals used in the bakery are approved for the food industry and that all chemicals have current SDS (Safety Data Sheets) information on site.
• Assures compliance with the pest control program. Ensures contract pest control program operator is complying with all required license, insurance, and pest chemical SDS (Safety Data Sheets) requirements.
• Supports and assists in administering programs and policies required for BRC certification.
• Responsible for training all sanitation employees in sanitation cleaning practices and chemical usage safety.
• Support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the BRC System.

• Be accountable to the Bensons Bakery Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
• Train employees on the Kleanz program and manage the system.
• Inventory of parts and cleaning supplies, assist with audits, create work orders.
• Maintain the sanitation schedule.
• Keep a working relationship with all vendors/suppliers.
• Conduct interviews for new employees.
• Learn to do chemical titrations and chemical inventory.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS / REQUIREMENTS

Must have knowledge of chemical usage and handling for food processing sanitation. Computer literacy in a Microsoft Office Suite software environment. Experience in administering programs and policies required for BRC certification. Position requires working weekends and holidays.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

3 to 5 years of increasing responsibility in managing/directing the sanitation function in the food processing, preferably commercial bakery industry.

PREFERRED EDUCATION

Four-year college or university program diploma/certificate.
