Job Description

Since 2012, Southern Marine Supply has been Fort Lauderdale’s go to marine supply retailer. A wholesaler specializing in marine air conditioning, refrigeration, and water systems. Southern Marine Supply’s highly organized warehouse store is a favorite for professionals in the industry who can trust SMS to have what they need.

SMS is currently looking for Customer Service Professional to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will possess strong work ethic, team mentality and a charismatic personality.

The Customer Service Professional is responsible for answering inbound internal and external calls and emails, utilizing SMS’s processes to solve customer inquiries / issues, processing customer orders / adjustments and escalating issues for resolution as needed. Customer Service Professionals will problem-solve to ensure customer satisfaction and create brand loyalty leading to lasting customer relationships. CSA’s must manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent oral and written communication skills and work cooperatively with others to accomplish business and delivery objectives. This role reports directly to the Assistant Manager and General Manager.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Greets every customer in a helpful and courteous manner
  • Supports the sales efforts at SMS’s store front, servicing wholesale and retail customers
  • Ensure that sales transactions are completed accurately, maintaining precise work order files, and pulling appropriate products from the sales floor or warehouse
  • Assist in sourcing products required by customers that are not available in the store, and, upon approval, place order and follow up as necessary
  • Update and maintain CRM database with new customer information, and customer orders
  • Be responsible for labeling product, stocking shelves, cycle counting inventory, setting up displays, cleaning store equipment, and loading and unloading trucks
  • Process customers at checkout using the point of sale (POS) system
  • Performs all activities in accordance with all required safety guidelines
  • Other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Minimum High school diploma required; Associates degree preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish
  • 3-5 years’ experience in customer service, inside/outside sales, call center customer support/sales, and/or warehouse environment required
  • Proficient in (Outlook, Microsoft Office, Excel, Mac products, Chrome, etc.) as well as CRMs and POS solutions; or the ability to learn
  • Capacity to work
  • independently as well as in a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail; data entry and basic math skills
  • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment preferred.
  • Must be able to lift and bend frequently; must be able to routinely lift and move up to 50 lbs. without assistance

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must routinely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
