JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary/objective
The Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for ensuring that sound business and financial practices are followed by the corporation while performing corporate accounting and financial analysis activities.
Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Essential functions of the Senior Financial Accountant will include:
- Maintain the corporation's accounting and fixed assets systems.
- Coordinate the annual financial audit and ensure the accurate and timely filings of local, state, and federal government reporting requirements, Corporation for Public Broadcasting reporting requirements and local, state, and federal government tax filings.
- Prepare and timely deliver monthly financial reporting to the organization's board of directors and managers, including but not limited to, Statement of Financial Position, Statement of Activities and Changes in Net Assets, Cash Flow Statements, Cash Projection, and other departmental reports.
- Manage the general ledger and the timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing and check processing, bank reconciliation and payroll. Assist with benefits administration.
- Analyze, prepare, and summarize recommendations for decisions regarding financial plans (budget), capital purchases, internal controls, and cash management.
- Attendance is required.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years experience.
- Nonprofit or government accounting experience preferred.
- Experience with Sage50 Accounting or similar accounting software preferred.
- Experience with reporting to board of directors, regulatory authorities, and auditors.
- Strong orientation to detail, accuracy, organization, and deadlines.
- High ethical standards, trustworthiness, and discretion with knowledge of confidential information.
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- The ability to contribute to a harmonious team spirit while maintaining professional objectivity.
- Professional level knowledge of MS Office products, specifically Excel.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position could have supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
After a 60-day in-office probationary period, this local nonprofit is open to the idea of hybrid work, depending on if it is mutually appropriate.
This is an in-office position located in Northeast Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee must be able to sit for several hours and be able to lift up to 25lbs.
Travel Requirement
There is no travel required for this position.
