Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Engineer

Widelity is seeking a full-time Distributed Antennae System (DAS) Engineer who will exercise sound judgment and assist in building our indoor wireless team in the DC-Maryland-Virginia (DMV) region and other high growth areas in the U.S. The DAS Engineer will be responsible for working on projects that consist of neutral host distributed antenna systems, public safety distributed antenna systems, WIFI networks, and indoor small cell.

We need a highly motivated, self-managed individual that can support these projects as local project manager and technician.

DAS Engineer Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating installation crews with building management and/or General Contractors to complete installation tasks on time and on budget with no disruption to the overall building construction schedule.
  • Tracking and managing materials for multiple projects
  • Working with City/County office to get construction permits and coordinate inspections Inspecting and approving sub-contractor installation work
  • Resolving installation issues on site
  • Performing on-site testing and troubleshooting of Radio Frequency (RF) and Internet Protocol (IP) devices and cabling.
  • Commissioning and testing of Distributed Antenna System (DAS) active systems, remote monitoring, and fire alarm integration.
  • Coordinating with wireless carriers and building owner to get wireless carrier equipment installed and commissioned.
  • Supporting new bids by representing Widelity on site walks
  • Coordinating with Widelity engineer to identify and resolve design or installation problems proactively
  • Communicate accurate and unbiased status of installation projects internally. You will be the eyes and ears for the team on site.

DAS Engineer Required Skills:

  • Proficiency with MS Windows and Office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Previous experience and basic knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) theory and practical application including cabling, connectors, antennas, grounding (relevant experience might include military radio, comms, or radar tech, cellular network tech, or 2-way radio)
  • CCENT, CCNA, or demonstrated history of configuring and troubleshooting IP routing, switching, VLAN, NAT, and VPN.
  • Previous experience working in commercial construction environment including basic PPE and safety procedures (hardhat, safety glasses, boots)
  • Demonstrated history of working autonomously and solving problems with minimal supervision.
  • Previous experience with indoor low-voltage cabling installation including fiber, CAT5/6, and coax.
  • Demonstrated experience with managing or supervising installation or construction projects.
  • Unwavering commitment to asset protection and cybersecurity.

DAS Engineer Position Requirements:

  • Physical ability to climb stairs, work on ladder, lift equipment, work in environmentally uncontrolled conditions (hot, cold, dust, etc.)
  • Ability to pass periodic corporate drug screening
  • Reliable transportation (expenses are reimbursed)

DAS Engineer Desired Qualities:

  • Engineering degree or equivalent experience
  • BICSI certification (RCDD, TECH, INST) or equivalent
  • AV system knowledge, CTS certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with RF coax test equipment such as Anritsu SiteMaster
  • Experience or Certification on active DAS systems such as ADRF, JMA Wireless, etc.
  • Experience or Certification on indoor design tools such as iBwave
  • Working knowledge of 4G and 5G wireless technology and frequency bands.
  • Established relationships with one or more wireless carriers in the market.
  • Experience or Certification on WIFI technologies such as Aruba, Cisco, or Ruckus.

Our goal is to find the right candidate to grow with our business. Initial compensation will be commensurate with current skills and knowledge.

  • Starting Salary range of $80-130K/year
