Senior Estimator

The Senior Estimator is responsible for the distribution of design documents to qualified subcontractors. Reading and understanding plans and being able to measure and quantify materials based on plans is part of this job. This role includes facilitating the receipt of qualified bids in accordance with all related scopes of work from Division 02 Sitework through Division 16 Electrical & Low Voltage. It is imperative that the Senior Estimator is contacting invited subcontractors by phone and email to facilitate a qualified bid from the subcontractor before bids are due. It is crucial for the Senior estimator to understand current market conditions and react accordingly. In order to do this the Senior Estimator must be able to perform the following duties in a timely manner.

Senior Estimator Duties:

·         Be Proactive and Display Ownership of each project

·         Attend Design Meetings (Permit/Pricing Set when Invited)

·         Create the Plan Log/Registry using a provided template

·         Plans/Document Control & Preparation for ITB

·         SmartBid Net Contact Database Maintenance

·         ITB Prep and Send out

·         ITB Follow-up with Estimator

·         Bid Receipt and Categorization

·         Estimating Takeoff Database Management

·         Estimating Takeoff Plan Import & Takeoffs

·         Scope Sheet Template Management

·         Scope Sheet Delegation

·         Bid Leveling/Scoping - Scope Sheet Data Input

·         Bid Coverage, along with Saving & Logging Bids

·         Project Budget creation – budget should match scope sheet

·         RFI’s to Chief Estimator & BBL Personnel

·         Create Qualifications & Assumptions during the bidding process.

·         Cost Histories & Project Cost Data

·         Subcontractor Use Tracking

·         PM Handoff with Chief Estimator

·         Keep track of cost histories and project cost data

·         Utilize subcontractor use tracking log when creating budgets

·         Handoff budget to Project Management

·         Create and deliver GMP bid packages

Requirements

·         3-5 years senior level estimating experience in Multifamily

·         Bachelor Degree in Construction/Engineering related field or equally related experience

·         Microsoft Products: Excel & MS Word – strong comprehension and application
