Job Description

CNA Job Duties & Requirements

Job Requirements:
1. Valid Delaware CNA license or working towards.
2. Previous experience working with the elderly and knowledge of aging issues.
3. Flexibility and the ability to prioritize.
4. Ability to make responsible choices and decisions and act in resident’s best interest.
5. Ability to read, write and speak English.
6. Ability to successfully pass a math assessment test.
7. Valid CPR

Schedule: Monday – Friday 7am to 3pm

Pay Rate: $18 an hour

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assist with preparation and serve of Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner daily for residents.
Assist with feeding residents and collect resident’s tray/plates. Clean up.
Administer medication after successful completion of LLAM certification.
Give and take shift report in timely manner.
Answer residents call bell.
Bath, groom, shave and dress residents.
Document all ADLs (Activities of Daily Living).
Respect Privacy, Dignity and confidentiality regarding all Residents and their care by following HIPPA guidelines.
Participate in mandatory all staff and departmental training.
Assist with light housekeeping.
Assist with Residents laundry.
Provide residents with help walking, exercising and moving in and out of bed or chair.
Answer telephone and director visitors.
Deliver messages, mail and documents.
Maintain inventory by storing, preparing and issuing supplies.
Maintain inventory of resident’s personal supply for example shampoo, laundry detergent and disposable undergarments.
Update logs daily for example dishwasher, refrigerator logs.
Observe residents condition, skin changes, increased care needs, measure and recording food and liquid intake and output and vital signs and report changes to professional staff.
Assist with residents activities.
Empty trash cans.
Assist with changing of hearing aid batteries.
Clean oven/microwave after each use.
Regular predictable and dependable attendance.

Qualifications:

Physical Demands
1.Walk three to four hours per day. Also run or walk rapidly.
2. Sit or stand for up to two hours per day.
3. Occasional lifting over 50 and up to 100 pounds when assisting residents with transfer.
4. Push/pull with up to 50 pounds of force.
5. Assist with transfer, lifting and pushing wheelchair.
6. Occasional bending and twisting at waist.
7. Climb stairs quickly.

Working Conditions
1.Exposure to blood borne pathogens.
2. Work in well-lighted, well ventilated work areas.
3. Subject to infections, odor and or hazards that might cause bruises or scratches.
4. Subject to frequent interruptions.
5. Hours vary, nights and weekends may be required.
