Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Summary: WindRiver operates several different businesses including, but not limited to, real estate, club membership, hospitality, dining, events, golf, and marina management.

As an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, you will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent on the direction and maintenance of the golf course grounds and equipment. The WindRiver Golf Course is a Bob Cupp design consisting of 18 holes with 419 bermudagrass fairways and roughs and new (2022) Prizm Zoysia.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and participate in the maintenance of the golf course tees, greens, fairways, and cart paths
• Supervise the maintenance and repair of motorized and other mechanical equipment
• Assist in planning workload and creating schedules for crew members, updating daily as needed
• Instructs equipment operators on how to properly operate and care for equipment such as lawn mowers and other equipment
• Schedule irrigation and repair as needed
• Supervise fertilizer and pesticide applications and calibrates pesticide application equipment
• Oversees and participates in the operation and maintenance of pumps and irrigation systems
• Assists in personnel management, evaluation, and safety
• Prepare clear and concise reports
• Maintain effective employee and public relations
• May serve in the Superintendent's capacity during his/her absence
• Adhere to WindRiver's regularly updated COVID-19 response bulletin
• Perform other duties as required by the business

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in Turfgrass management or related field
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Tennessee Pesticide license or ability to obtain one within 90 days
• 2-4 years golf course experience required; supervisory role preferred

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Must possess working knowledge of seeding, maintenance of turf, planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs, and trees
• Must possess working knowledge of proper use of fertilizers, soil conditioners, herbicides, and pesticides
• Knowledge of drainage control methods, irrigation systems, wells, pumps and automatic controls
• Excellent organizational skills, ability to perform a wide variety of tasks during in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to pay close attention to detail
• Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
• Demonstrated positive interpersonal and communication skills with staff and customers
• Team player
• Positive attitude, professional manner, and appearance in all situations

Physical Requirements: Must be able to bend, stoop, climb, twist, kneel, lift, push, and pull items weighing up to 50lbs. Must be able to stand and continuously move for up to 8 hours at a time.
