Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant needed to work for a medical management firm in Farmingdale/Melville, NY. Qualified candidates will prepare and manage financial data analysis, financial statements with supporting schedules for use by VP of Finance and CFO. Candidates will have bachelor’s degree in accounting and four (4) years of experience in accounting.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Preparation of interim and annual financial statement to review by the CFO and VP, finance (prepares and record journal entries which include multi-entity allocations, intercompany transactions, handle all general ledger account and maintain all monthly and year end adjusting entries and account analysis).
• Preparation of P&L and Balance sheet supporting schedules and reports for external auditors and respond to special requests for upper management.
• Oversees General accounting department and train staff and cross-over for absent employees.
• Preparation of physician compensation and contract administration functions for over 200 physicians (employed and 1099), responsible of implementing compensation plans/models to show overall physician strategy.
• Coordinate with outside auditors (Workers Compensation).
• Interface with outside accountant in providing the data needed for preparation of corporate tax return which includes intensive data analysis and research.
• Preparation of all quarterly and yearly federal and state tax returns.
• Prepare budgets to be reviewed by the CFO and VP of Finance.
• Approve check request for payment.
• Handle any request for special project.
• Works with confidential data.

Education and Work Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting
• CPA/ MBA desired
• Minimum of 4years in accounting experience

• Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP)
• Presentation Skills
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office products: Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
