Job Description

One of DC's most established and successful restaurant groups is seeking a Head Bartender for a fine-dining concept in Downtown DC.

The restaurant is an approachable fine-dining operation that serves lunch and dinner, but does not serve brunch and is closed on Sundays. No late nights.

The Head Bartender will serve as liaison to upper management in all things pertaining to bar service, cocktail menu cultivation and staff education. The training of new bartenders, staff spirit-guidance, and presentation of craft cocktails fall under the responsibility for the Head Bartender.

Essential Job Functions:

Reporting to the General Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Crafting Unique Beverages: As the Head Bartender, you will bring creativity and expertise to the beverage program. You will design and prepare a diverse range of cocktails and beverages that align with our restaurant's theme and enhance the dining experience.

  • Elevated Customer Service: You will uphold our commitment to providing welcoming customer service. Ensuring that guests have a memorable and enjoyable experience with our beverages and at our bar is the core of your role.

  • Menu Development: Collaborate with our culinary team to developĀ a cocktail program that harmonizes with our food offerings. Your input and expertise will contribute to creating a cohesive dining experience.

  • Inventory/Order Management: Responsible for assisting with monthly inventory checks to maintain adequate stock levels and minimize waste. Taking the lead on Beverage ordering weekly.

  • Networking with Suppliers: Continue building relationships with suppliers and brands. This includes understanding the products, exploring collaborations, and keeping up with industry trends.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Open availability (other than Sundays)
  • Extensive knowledge of cocktail recipes and ingredient usage.
  • Familiarity with beverage cost controls.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • General culinary knowledge of basic kitchen practices, protocols, and procedures.
  • 5+ Years experience bartending in full-service restaurants with scratch kitchens.
  • Ability to obtain a TIPS certification and DC ABRA Manager License.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing
  • Must be able to lift up to 40lbs at times.
