Location: The Union League Guard House (935 Youngs Ford Road Gladwyne, PA 19035)

The Union League Guard House is the Union League’s neighborhood private dining room located Gladwyne, PA. It dates to 1790 and exudes historic charm. Step in through the swinging front door and into our iconic establishment. Be greeted by smiling and familiar faces and order a seasonal cocktail from our cozy bar. Description:

We are seeking a culinary professional to join our team. At the Guard House, we are open year-round, offer indoor and outdoor seating, and have tenured staff with minimal turnover. The successful candidate will plan, organize, control, and direct the work of the culinary team. Ensures superior quality and consistency in preparation of all food items for a la carte service Tuesday through Sunday. Works in conjunction with the General Manager to deliver unique and exceptional dining experiences for members and guests.

Responsibilities:
Operations

• Develops and maintains standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation.
• Creates daily specials and seasonal menu items for a la carte dinner service.
• Has a willingness to grow the business by creating niche events (approximately one per month).
• Evaluates food products to assure that the highest quality standards are consistently attained.
• Maintains high standards of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety throughout all kitchen areas.
• Establishes controls to minimize food and supply waste.

Member Service

• Has a creative passion and a heart for hospitality. The Guard House prides itself on having a “say yes” culture.
• Creates visibility and engages with members.
• Welcomes, encourages, and engages in regular feedback from members.
• Is responsive to members’ requests for specials, menu selections, and event planning.

Financial and Administrative

• Understands metrics for successful attainment of financial goals and objectives in F&B operations. Assists with data for annual budget including projected revenue, labor, operating costs, and food costs.
• Monitors payroll and labor resource allocations.
• Embraces the use of technological systems to improve efficiency.
• Reviews and approves product purchases. Maintains excellent vendor relationships.

Skills and Requirements:

• While a culinary degree is preferred, professional certifications and relevant experience are vital
• 3+ years of food and beverage industry experience
• Food and beverage knowledge
• Technical experience and aptitude with inventory systems, MS Office, and ADP
• Experience communicating with members and/or customers using social media is a plus.
• Work schedule will include nights, weekends, and some holidays (Easter, Mother’s Day, New Year’s Eve)
