Alter Trading Corporation, a 126 year old, privately held company with 70+ scrap metal processing facilities is seeking a qualified Business Intelligence Developer at our corporate office in St. Louis, Missouri. Alter operates scrap metal processing facilities in 9 states and trades recycled materials nationally and internationally. Position Overview:
The Business Intelligence Developer (Power BI) will have the ability to learn and grow in the dynamic field of business intelligence. You will work closely with the team to understand their data needs, create impactful reports and dashboards using Power BI, and contribute to the development of efficient data models and integrations.
Responsibilities:
- Report Development: Design and develop reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Data Querying: Write and optimize SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from the data warehouse and external data sources.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver solutions that add value.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues with reports and data sources and provide support to users as needed.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest features and best practices in Power BI and related Microsoft technologies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Barring a degree, related experience is acceptable.
- Less than 5 years of experience in business intelligence or data analysis.
- Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation.
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Must live within a commutable distance (by daily drive) to St. Louis, MO.
Additional Microsoft Technologies are a bonus:
- Microsoft Excel: Familiarity with Excel functions and data analysis techniques.
- Microsoft SharePoint: Basic understanding of SharePoint for report sharing and collaboration.
- Azure Services: Interest or experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Analysis Services for cloud-based data integration and analytics.
- Dynamics 365: Familiarity with D365 data objects utilizing Parquet, or Synapse.
