Summary: Plans, directs and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in assembling parts or assemblies to manufacture parts or products by performing the following duties. This job is in Swedesboro, near Philadelphia.

 

Position Outcomes: To perform the job successfully, an individual must accomplish the following position objectives:

  • Meet weekly build schedule as defined by the Production/Manufacturing Manager or Planning Group.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet business objectives.
  • Understand the skills of the workforce and plan/utilize the appropriate skills to meet assigned schedules.
  • Maintain the agreed high level of quality.
  • Train staff on safety standards and company policies and regularly emphasize safety and maintain accident/incident free records.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as approving work hours and time off requests.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Controls the flow of work to meet customer deadlines by managing the product specification, making adjustments and overseeing the work of the department, and taking responsibility for the finished product by monitoring and maintaining quality yields of finished goods products.
  • Reads and analyzes charts, work orders, production schedules, and other records and reports to determine production requirements and to evaluate current production estimates and outputs.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Ensures effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development. Confers with management or employees to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Recommends or implements measures to motivate employees and to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, or efficiency.
  • Keeps records of employees’ attendance and hours worked.
  • Conducts employee training in equipment operations or work and safety procedures or assigns employee training to experienced workers.
  • Evaluates and conducts performance reviews and takes interim actions necessary for maintaining policies, working with individuals to achieve assigned growth objectives.
  • Works proactively to identify productivity and process yield issues and takes appropriate action to resolve them, taking into account quality, costs and existing workloads.
  • Ensures all production equipment is maintained and serviced appropriately in all steps of the process.
  • Maintains the accuracy of product specification and drawings, and interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers.
  • Maintains optimum production as measured by quality, quantity, and time.
  • Tracks the overall delivery date performance of the department for individual customer orders; Maintains the work schedules in the department and the progress daily; Posts weekly production performance numbers.
  • Confers with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between departments to ensure customer deadlines are met; assists other departments in meeting their production and customer service goals.
  • Stays abreast of new equipment, safety procedures, and new products that may contribute to the growth of the Company.
  • Ensures the monitoring of all raw materials required for the daily operation of the department and its delivery goals.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5 years of relevant manufacturing work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of management/supervisory experience (Supervisor/Management training certificate preferred).
  • Prior Lean Manufacturing experience (Green Belt / Black Belt preferred)
  • Should possess experience in high mix of manufacturing, machine and automation assembly environments.
