St. Edward's University invites applications for a half-time staff position as the Photocommunications Lab Manager. This is a one-year position with possibility of renewal. Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience. This position is posted as a 9-month contract, and does not include benefits.
For consideration, one must have the following: BFA in Studio Art/Photography or equivalent degree in a related discipline. Strong evidence of excellence in analog and digital photography. Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to personnel in their area of expertise. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to present information effectively to groups. Analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills. Ability to analyze supplies costs and develop cost-effective procedures. Ability to calibrate, maintain, modify, and/or repair laboratory equipment. Ability to develop appropriate safety policies for the facility/equipment users. Ability to analyze complex information, and to define and solve problems. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. Prior teaching and/or student supervision preferred. Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal background check.

Essential Responsibilities Include:
- Assists faculty in the use of the PHOT facility, equipment, and other resources.
- Recruits, trains, and supervises student Lab Monitors.
- Manages the PHOT web-based reservation and inventory system.
- Maintains equipment including studio lighting and grip equipment, location lighting, multiple camera platforms (film and digital), and more.
- Manages consumable inventory, such as lab chemistry and paper.
- Manages equipment check-out and check-in procedures.
- Maintains or ensures a safe and efficient working environment.
- Promotes positive interpersonal relations with faculty, staff, and students.
- Communicates effectively with all stakeholders/constituents.
- Assists the PHOT Area Coordinator and Department of Visual Studies Chair with budget management.
- Works with and assists as necessary the School of Humanities Environmental Management Systems Coordinator.
- Responsible for regulatory and policy compliance as it applies to the position.
- Performs other duties as required.
