ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a fantastic career opportunity to join an innovative, passionate team that requires focus, persistence, and dynamism in the growing Climate sector. 3Degrees is hiring an Associate Analyst, Rest of World Markets to join our growing Environmental Markets team and help organizations around the world achieve their renewable energy and decarbonization goals. We are looking for someone who is a skilled Excel aficionado, passionate about conducting research with keen interest in working with complex data, enjoys constructing multifaceted supply and demand models, and has an entrepreneurial spirit and global mindset. Your desire to learn the ins and outs of environmental commodity markets drives you to add your own flavor to your work, whether it be legislative knowledge, market commentary, or industry hearsay.

This position is open to candidates ideally based within a commutable distance of our office in San Francisco California, where you can enjoy a flexible, hybrid-working pattern. Exceptional candidates based remotely in the United States may also be considered. This role reports to the Lead International Analyst.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

This Analyst will join the Environmental Markets team which manages the domestic and international Energy Attribute Certificate (EACs) business at 3Degrees. This person supports our internal market and pricing analysis efforts for the Rest of World portfolio, which includes markets within APAC, LATAM, and MEA. The ideal candidate has some background with environmental commodity markets, especially International EACs. Position responsibilities include:
  • Develop comprehensive supply and demand models to support 3Degrees' business, including:
    • Evaluate and conduct due diligence for International EAC deal opportunities
    • Assist with in-depth research and constructing nuanced market insights across a variety of geographies and products in emerging and developing markets
    • Aggregate disparate data, reconciling discrepancies, and validating data quality and integrity
  • Conduct research and analysis to help guide the development of trading strategy to include:
    • Execute weekly scheduled pricing and portfolio reporting
    • Collaborate with our Regulatory Affairs team with research on potential legislative, regulatory, or policy changes affecting international markets
    • Manage and updating existing market reports and conveying results to different teams
    • Support our international portfolio manager and trading team with ad hoc analyses
  • Engage with, updating, and running custom knowledge tools to help guide portfolio decisions:
    • Apply more advanced technical skills in SQL, Excel VBA, and Tableau to improve analyses
    • Support data automation and integration initiatives

ABOUT YOUYou will have a propensity for figuring out creative ways to overlay data sets in a manner that provides critical analytical insights to our Trading Team. Candidates who possess the following qualifications have an excellent opportunity to thrive in this role:
  • 0 - 2 years of professional experience in fundamentals modeling
  • Renewable energy commodity markets experience preferred
  • Exceptional research abilities, and diligent attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience using SQL or Tableau is a plus
  • Ability to work in a team based environment balancing competing demands toward mutual goals
  • Excellent presentation skills; must be able to succinctly present information to other team members
  • Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and maintain composure under pressure
  • Strong independent learning skills coupled with a successful track record of self-driven analytical investigations
  • Self-motivated, with a genuine desire to accelerate the growth of environmental markets domestically and internationally
  • Excellent written and verbal English language skills
  • Fluency in a second language is a plus
  • BA/BS degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of professional experience and education

HOW WE DEFINE SUCCESSWithin 30 days
  • You have a firm understanding of the International EAC market structure, 3Degrees' overall portfolio position, and at least an indication of the key drivers underlying these strategies
  • You will complete the first month of our onboarding program plus invested in your own research and have a basic understanding of 3Degrees' company and commercial business structure, products, and services
  • You are attuned to the key stakeholders within EM and have an initial understanding of their priorities and needs
  • You have successfully engaged with the team in terms of their growth, tools, processes, and reporting activity

Within 90 days
  • You are beginning to track key long-term trends for the company and understand how those concepts are reflected in raw data
  • You have taken independent ownership of routine reporting tools and can demonstrate that you understand their relevance to portfolio management

Within 6 months
  • You are an active contributor and fully integrated into the EM team
  • You are the primary source of market information for at least one of the three regions covered in the International portfolio, including generating weekly reports and actionable intelligence reviews for the trading team

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
  • Compensation: The starting base pay for this position is $68,500 to $87,600 in the US. The total compensation package for the successful candidate in this role may exceed the base pay as it includes other incentive pay. The base pay is dependent upon many factors such as location, transferable or job-related skills, work experience, relevant training, business needs, and market demands. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future

  • Supplemental Pay: this position is eligible for discretionary bonus programs including the company's profit sharing program and an annual team Bonus Pool
  • This compensation and benefits information is based on 3Degrees' good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future
