Release Train Engineer/Agile Delivery Lead – Tempe, Austin, Atlanta, Charlotte, Boston, Santa Clara
THE BANK is seeking an experienced Release Train Engineer / Agile Delivery Lead (ADL) to support and coach scrum teams (pods) by steering them to success and navigating the complexity of delivering software in large, cross-functional environments. The ADL helps resolve and escalate impediments, manages risk, helps assure value delivery, and drives program-level continuous improvement. The RTE is accountable for the program’s overall planning, coordination, execution, and value delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Participates in Initiative Planning and Sprint Zero to identify solution design, initiative sizing, capacity impact, and a dependency map.
- Maintains a 1-year roadmap of Capacity allocations for all the pods in their group, updated quarterly.
- Provides dependency support across pods, programs, and portfolios, as needed, to ensure the delivery and release occur.
- Manage program level coordination, such as creating timelines, milestones, and cadence of increments and releases, and oversee the development of reports and analyses that document program activity
- Lead project teams; act as consultant/coach to management in resolving complicated problems; follows servant leadership approach
- Participate with management and cross-functional teams as subject matter expert to develop and improve operating policies and procedures related to agility and be an advocate in adopting best practices and processes
- Facilitate the working relationship between the Infrastructure and Operations portfolio and its business functions/partners
- Monitor, assess, and interview potential Scrum Leads to maintain core pod staffing
Remain apprised of initiative progress and pod financials with sufficient detail to lead Program Leadership rollup readouts - Coach leaders, teams, and Scrum leads in Lean-Agile practices and mindsets
Lead preparation and execution of release planning for the set of pods within the ADL’s scope of responsibility - Collaborate with the team that prioritizes the epics to be considered in the next program increment (PI) planning cycle; participate in planning and Sprint Zero for all initiatives.
Facilitate the refinement of features to be considered in the next PI planning cycle to meet the feature definition of ready - Provide regular and open communication across the program and stakeholders for transparency and awareness of progress and impediments
Drive delivery and continuous improvement by utilizing feedback and metrics (quality, delivery rate, etc.) to identify areas of opportunity
Education and Experience (required):
- Batchelor’s degree
- 8-10 years of progressive work-related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/technologies/processes related to the position, as well as 3-5 years managing teams and/or significant complex project
- Proven prior experience as Release Train Engineer for long-lived value streams and products
A strong, strategic, and ambitious mindset coupled with intellectual energy - Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed environment and influencing key stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written, verbal, presentation), strong documentation skills, ability to communicate technical concepts
- Strong organizational and planning skills and experience in establishing process and procedure, analyzing, and developing process improvements
- Power User of Jira and Confluence
- Strong understanding of agile delivery metrics and the ability to influence positive change
- Experience with Software Development tools, techniques, and methodologies
Education and Experience (preferred):
- Technical degree (i.e., Computer Science, Engineering)
- Experience with eazyBI and/or PowerBI
- Holds at least a SAFe Agilist certification
