Our client – a growing Medical Device & Pharmaceutical company, in Kansas needs 2 Production Supervisors – 1 each in 1st + 2nd shifts for Production of Medical Devices. Excellent salary + Full benefits + Relocation assistance

Job Title: Production Supervisor Qty = 2 (1 each in 1st + 2nd shift) See Note 1 below for Shift timings

Location: Lawrence, KS

Compensation: Base salary of $75K - $85K per year

Relocation: YES - Client offers relocation assistance

Our client is a privately held company in business for 40 years with 2 sites in CA + KS with around 300 people

Group Info: Be part of the medical device and pharmaceutical contract manufacturing site with around 100+ employees and expected to grow to 150 people soon due to major expansion in Pharma manufacturing.

The new operation expansion is for Pharma - Blow Fill Cap – BFC of Sterile Solutions.

This role will Supervise production for around 15 – 20 operations people working in the 3 work cells for Medical Device manufacturing. The production operation will be IMM - Injection Molding Manufacturing and BFS – Blow fill Seal of sterile liquid products.


This role will report to the Shift Production Manager and will have 15 – 20 reports like Process technicians, lead Process technician, Production Associate, Packers, Production Coordinators.

Note 1: The shift times are 1st = Mon – Friday - 7AM – 4 PM & 2nd = Mon – Friday - 3 PM – Midnight, with on call rotating schedule for weekends

Job Summary:

  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of direct and indirect personnel involved in production tasks.
  • Track, monitor and follow up the production schedule to achieve production forecast within the estimated production performance indicators such as safety, quality, cost, material management and people wellbeing.
  • Execute manufacturing and planning strategies, methodologies, and variety of projects to optimize the production internal supply chain, on-time delivery, process transformation, performance, and systems availability.
  • Directly responsible for production inventory and cycle count reports, material shortage, internal, external calibrations, and maintenance plan to balance production workload in conjunction with maintenance department.
  • Direct leader on lean manufacturing methodologies such as 5S’s, production or manufacturing execution system, follows the designated procedures and policies.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for plant operational objectives assuring quality of products as per assignment Assure compliance to all manufacturing and quality standards such as ISO13485, QSR, and cGMP’s.
  • Direct responsible for all production and quality records (MBR/MPR), assuring all information is correct and is being completed contemporaneously.
  • Track all quality trends to create solid and robust action plans, take ownership of all production/manufacturing complaints, NCR/CAPA champion.
  • Analyze production schedule to estimate manpower hours, materials and all resources required to execute the manufacturing program.
  • Manage, allocate and distribute all manufacturing line personnel in alignment with production schedule and workload balance.
  • Plan and lay out work to meet production and schedule requirements.
  • Keep all manufacturing line balance with support from engineering team.
  • Manage absenteeism, shift/area changes, disciplinary actions, PTO, holydays, and sick days
  • Manage payrolls for all direct reports and any additional staff assigned to provide all information required to human resource department.
  • Manage personal performance evaluations to develop career path.
  • Provide and support training to manufacturing personnel, create training material as required.
  • Support all engineering activities such as process validation runs and plant operational projects.
  • Collaborates with operational personnel (line leader, process technicians, engineering, and maintenance technicians, etc.), in monitoring and supporting the production plan.
  • Conduct process control activities/projects, based on the operations SOP, taking into consideration the performance and scrap of the process.
  • Assuring all process technicians creates work orders for machinery and equipment.
  • Consult the technical manual to support troubleshoot problems with manufacturing equipment, process, machinery making improvements.
  • Plan and lay out work to meet production and schedule requirements.
  • Create daily operational KPI’s reports from assigned areas as part of standard job.
  • Lead 5’s and lean methodologies in accordance to the best manufacturing practices.
  • Follow the escalation path and communication process to solve process, people, and machinery issues.
  • Follow the cGMP’s as per the quality manual to assure compliance with all applicable systems and regulations by keeping all logbooks, procedures, and standards up to date in accordance with Company.
  • Keep legible records, assuring a 100% compliance in accordance with ISO13485, cGMP and cGDP.
  • Follow all safety regulations and PPE in accordance with Company regulations and policies.
  • Notify any safety condition related to the job and all manufacturing areas. Support EHS and operation team to improve safety conditions.
  • Main point of contact and team member of safety committee and review board for all safety plant conditions.

Basic Knowledge requirements

  • Manage and application with LOTO
  • 5’s applied to daily basis job
  • Changer Overs (SMED)
  • Basic Knowledge on Measurements Tools and Techniques
  • Preventive and Predictive Maintenance
  • IQMS
  • Microsoft office – advanced skills for reporting and creating presentations.
  • Previous experience with ISO 13485 and QSR.
  • Quality systems training.
  • Lean manufacturing, Lean six sigma.
  • Experience in supply chain systems, inventory management and ERP systems

Candidate Must Have:

  • Min. 5 years of Production Supervision experience in the FDA regulated Industry.
  • Good leadership skills to motivate personnel and grow the Operations group as needed.
  • Ability to create training material and enforce technical training as needed for the team.
  • Computer skills and Proficient with - Microsoft Office 365 tools;

Candidate Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or similar engineering field,
  • Experience in Blow Molding or Injection Molding in the Plastic Industry
  • Startup or Small company experience working in a dynamic and hands-on role.
  • Experience in the Medical Device or Pharma industry
  • APICS training or previous experience.
  • Contract Manufacturing experience working closely with customers and clients
