Position: RN Nurse
Location: Union City, TN
Duration: 3 Months

Job description:

• Occupational health nursing is the specialty practice that delivers health and safety programs and services to workers and worker populations.
• The practice focuses on the promotion and restoration of health, prevention of illness and injury, and protection from work-related and environmental hazards.
• This position will conduct medical history and physical assessments; adhere to the highest standard of confidentiality; and assist with team member education related to communicable diseases.
• This position may involve additional occupational health nurse duties as assigned by the manager.

Summary:

• This position is responsible for providing primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses;
• Performing required health assessments for specified programs;
• Conducting required screening tests such as drug and alcohol testing spirometry or audiometric testing; maintaining OSHA state and employee health records;
• Adhering to the highest standard of confidentiality; participating in plant safety and ergonomic programs; assisting with health promotion education and training programs;
• Identifying and assisting with workers compensation cases;
• Assisting with maintenance and documentation of workers' compensation files and performing other duties as assigned.

Environment:

• 1,700 workers on site. Strong smells, live birds, wet floors, cold temps.

Education:

• Completion of a registered nursing program is required.
• Current unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse required.
• Spanish-speaking candidates are preferred.

Experience:

• 2+ plus years of experience in the performance of nursing skills relative to occupational health nursing or Emergency room / ICU experience.

Computer Skills:

• Basic computer skills. Ability to work with an electronic medical documentation system.

Soft Skills:

• Able to work on their own- only 1 nurse on duty for most of 3rd shift.
• Must be able to work well under stress and make decisions quickly.

Travel:

• Occasional travel to local clinic hospital.

Physical Requirements:

• Physical requirements include walking through the plant to ensure team member and supervisor compliance with prescribed modified restricted duty requirements.
• This will include walking up steps and using ladders.
