Job Description

Summary The Onsite Technician must effectively diagnose and solve problems on CCTV / Surveillance System, Digital Access Points, Key Card Access, Cell Phone, Digital Pagers

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

1.     Monitor and diagnose issues with the Surveillance System, installation of cable, and general cable / infrastructure maintenance.

·         Walk up to 2 miles a day.

·         Crawl under desk and move small furniture.

·         Carry / climb ladder.

·         Work in small, confined areas

2.     Responsible for installation and maintenance of district wide IP camera system.  Includes IP camera programming and Video Insight camera server maintenance.

3.     Installation of new Cisco Wireless Access Points.  Troubleshooting existing wireless infrastructure

4.     Familiar with Networks and Protocols.

5.     Responsible for key card access and alarm systems throughout the district

6.     Test and service district wide radio system and programs

7.     Utilizes thorough knowledge and experience, testing, troubleshooting basic electronics.

8.     Installing cables and testing.

9.     Establishes service by studying equipment requirements; researching documentation, ordering, and gathering components and parts; completing installation; performing acceptance tests.

10.  Maintains rapport with customers by discussing issues; providing technical support; identifying solutions; suggesting improved methods and techniques; recommending system improvements.

11.  Participate in the on-the-job training program and maintain a working knowledge of all equipment.

12.  Possess hand and finger dexterity and good eyesight with the ability to determine colors.

13.  Requires daily travel, with some overnight travel possible.

14.  Must be available to be on call after normal business hours and perform service, installation and maintenance work during nighttime hours is expected.

15.  Protects confidential information, observes, and participates in vehicle and safety programs.

16.  Always keeps office clean and secure. Operate within and support all Forerunner Technologies Inc. Company policies and procedures including dress code and vehicle operating policy.

17.  Responsible and accountable for maintaining all company equipment to be always operational.

18.  Adheres to scheduled order completion and maintenance time frames.

19.  Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:                   

 

This position has no Supervisory Responsibilities.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

 

Security Background Check is Mandatory

Valid driver’s license and must maintain an acceptable MVR that meets the company insurance provider’s standards.

 

Cisco Knowledge is a plus.

 

Other Skills and Abilities                   

 

1-2 years of related CCTV / Surveillance experience

 

Basic knowledge of VoIP, networks, and data

Qualifications:

H.S. Diploma or Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Language Skills:      

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. 

 

Mathematical Skills:                   

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

Reasoning Ability:      

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

Computer Skills:                   

MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point)

 

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
